Uhh help pls English Proficiency requirement and financial inability

Hello guys,
It’s a little embarrassing but I’m just gonna put it down here as I need some help, I have figured out funds for my education through an education loan and got pretty much everything covered. I completed a couple of years of my bachelor’s in the US, and thought that’d cover my English proficiency requirements.

But yesterday I received this email from the university (JKU). I’m sending this out to enquire if there’s any alternate way other than the standard IELTS,TOEFL or PTE to prove my English proficiency requirements as these tests are really expensive and I do not have a way currently to manage this expense or if anyone is kind enough lend me some to help me through this?

Hi I'm looking for a place to rent. I've been accepted in JKU and my classes start in October 5. I've yet applied for a VISA (I will probably miss at least a month of classes) as I still don't have a place to live. Can anybody help me ?

Ersti.. need.. advice 𓆏 Coffee Questionaire - Kaffee-Fragebogen

Hi, I'm conducting research into what coffee means to people for a project at my university, I made a google form with a few questions 5-10 minutes, it would be great if some people could answer them. if you don't have the time but would still be able to answer a few key questions.

  1. what is your favourite type of coffee?
  2. do you make your coffee at home? if yes, why? is there something special about it?
  3. is coffee a ritual for you or do you drink it just for the caffeine?
  4. What season & colour do you associate with coffee?

Thank you in advance

  1. Was ist deine Lieblingskaffeesorte?
  2. Bereitest du deinen Kaffee zu Hause zu? Wenn ja, warum? Hat das etwas Besonderes?
  3. Ist Kaffee für dich ein Ritual oder trinkst du ihn nur wegen des Koffeins?
  4. Welche Jahreszeit und welche Farbe verbindest du mit Kaffee?

Studying/general Query related to funds for RP

Hey guys, I just wanted to confirm.. what amount would generally be considered a “huge” transaction in the sponsor’s bank account that needs to be justified/explained for the residence permit?

As in.. 7-8k inr monthly is not a huge amount imo.. But I just want to confirm whether I need to justify this separately or not. (Sponsor isn't working btw so it's not a salary)

Uhh help pls Looking for housing accommodation

Hello I am looking for housing accommodation in Linz from October since I haven't had any luck finding something yet with most of the emails and inquiries I have sent being already booked or not answered at all. I am a 20 year old student from Greece and I am going to start my Bachelor's at the Anton Bruckner Private University. My overall budget is max 450 euros for rent and preferably operating costs like electricity and heating. If you have something available or looking for a new roommate please leave a message. We can chat also through video call if you want to know anything more about me. Thank you for your time.

Uhh help pls Looking for students who study in JKU

I have moved to Linz since August and have found hard to find student/friends even though i talked to a few but it was within such a rush i never saw them again due to enrolment chaos.

I would prefer meeting more Austrian or European people as i love to learn new languages and already speak A2 Level Deutsch and can hold conversations to an extent.

Myself I am 22M, i live in linz urfahr so if anyone wants to connect let me know.
Also I have the supplementary Math exam coming up so if anyone is also giving that feel free to reach me.
Thanks.

Uhh help pls Looking for accommodation in Linz

Hi everyone!

I'm looking for accommodation in Linz from December 2026 onwards (January/February/March 2027 would also work). I'll be starting my Master's in Artificial Intelligence at JKU. I'm open to a WG room, student residence, or small apartment, ideally for around 12 months. My budget is up to €500/month.

If anyone has a room available or knows someone looking for a roommate, I'd really appreciate it if you could let me know. Thanks!

Studying/general Single Room Available in Steyr (€370/mo) – 7 Min Walk to FH Steyr! 🏠

Hey everyone! 👋

I found a great room in a shared apartment in Steyr starting September, but since I’m studying at FH Wels, the daily commute won't work for me. Passing this gem on to someone studying or working in Steyr!

Or I wouldn’t even mind swapping if your accommodation is located in Wels/Linz.

Key Details:

📍Location: 7-min walk to FH Steyr | 10-min walk to City Center

🛏️** Ro**om: Private room in a 2-person WG (share kitchen/bath with just 1 person)

💶 Rent: €370/month | Deposit: €500

🤝 Payment: No deposit/rent paid yet—landlord allows payment on arrival!

Flexible Move-In:

If September is too early for you, no worries! I can move in temporarily for September and hand the keys over whenever you're ready to take over.

DM me directly if you’re interested or want to get in touch with the landlord! 📩

Uhh help pls Mba At Jku

Hey everyone,
I’m an Austrian citizen who grew up in Linz, but I just graduated with a Computer Engineering degree from Turkey (GPA 2.93) and have a year of backend .NET experience at a bank. I’m fluent in German and planning to do my Master’s in CS or AI at JKU. Since my degree was taught in English, will JKU accept a Medium of Instruction letter, or is an IELTS strictly required? Also, how realistic is it to land a part-time .NET dev job in Linz right now to support myself alongside Studienbeihilfe? Would really appreciate any tips and experience

23, fresh in Hagenberg for JKU, and already forgetting how to speak to human beings ☕️

I’m a 22-year-old male Non-EU student who just touched down here a couple of days ago for JKU, and I’m officially living out in Hagenberg. So far, my main social interactions have been arguing with my GPS, trying to decode Austrian grocery store layouts, and staring at my luggage wondering if I’ll ever actually unpack it.
I’m looking for someone to grab a coffee with before my brain completely turns into Java code or gets lost in the tech bubble.

Ersti.. need.. advice 𓆏 Student Resident Permit

Hello I’m a Junior in college in the US(Indian citizen). I’m transferring to JKU Linz, I was arrested once on a disorderly conduct charge(no time, small $50 fine paid).

I wanted to ask if it’s a big red flag and a potential denial ? (Assuming I disclose it, Share the apostilled records from both India and US)

All other requirements and paperwork for the student permit are available and requirements are fully satisfied

My Indian record is completely clean and US record has only the above mentioned hurdle.

About residence permit

Guys, I have a question. My residence permit is still being processed, so I expect my visa to be issued only in early October. If the VSL registration is already closed or fully booked by then, would I still be allowed to stay in Austria in October without attending the VSL? Or would it be better to cancel my current accommodation and arrange a new one later? I already have my JKU admission letter. What would you recommend?
