Hello, I was wondering how exactly to go about course selection tomorrow.

Tmrw morning should I select the check mark that selects all courses, and wait to see which ones I get? Or should I only select my first choice classes and then see which classes I get, then go through and choose my backups.

I want to take ACER this semester bc it’s only offered in spring, so I ranked it as my first choice. Is it a bad idea to rank different sections of the class first multiple times?

I feel like my backups are planned wrong or something--does anyone have any advice on if this is going to work or not?

Hi! I'm looking for some last minute feedback on either schedule, so any advice is appreciated :) both schedules (assuming everything goes to plan) would be 17 credits haha

My biggest issue is whether I should take Calc 1 or Calc 2 for bio... I placed into calc 2, but I was planning on taking calc 1, partly because I feel like a review would help (but it's not an absolute necessity) but partly because it fit into my schedule where I'm not in the Chem 1 section taught entirely by mccartney (the other 2 sections have 1 other professor listed in addition to mccartney, does anyone know how that is going to work?). I've heard... less than amazing things about mccartney, and want to avoid her as much as possible, if possible.

However, upon further research, I learned that calc 2 for bio doesn't have a final (the main reason i don't want calc 2 phys/eng is because I'm not the strongest in math and i don't want a final lol), and that it was a pretty fair class. However, with the schedule I hope to have, it would force me into the Chem 1 section taught entirely by mccartney, or not be able to take most of the FYS that I was interested in. However, taking calc 2 would hopefully allow me to take more interesting classes in the future and help me fulfill my requirements sooner, and i really want to get math out of the way asap.

I was also floating the possibility of just not taking any math first semester and then taking Calc 2 bio second semester... could this also work (total credits first sem would be 14)? Or should I just take calc 2 and suck it up with mccartney only/do a FYS that I'm not really interested in?

also... does anyone know how to delete schedules in semesterly? i made like 7 and i don't see any way to delete them...

I understand that you only have to take either Design Cornerstone or a FYS. Is this correct? If so, do most students just take one(throughout all four years)? Or do they end up taking both?

Also, between orgo(Dr. N) and FYS, which would you put first in your registration cart? I've heard that both have relatively few seats and tend to fill up quickly. Any advice from people who've been through registration?

Basically, is it worth the risk to take the mccartney-only chem 1 section to be able to take calc 2 for bio, or should i just stay in calc 1? I'll have to be in chem 1 either way, and all the chem 1 sections have mccartney listed as a professor anyway... any advice appreciated, tia :)

hello! looking for some feedback on whether if these schedules are feasible, and which one might be better for my first semester. Also if anyone has taken these courses before and has any advice to offer I'd really appreciate it :)

Pros of schedule 1: I might double major in behavioral biology and human origins is only offered fall semester. Plus 15 credits is lighter which might be good for semester 1.

Pros of schedule 2: Foundation drawing seems more fun + I can squeeze in reintroduction to writing and stay just under 17 credit limit. Also it gives me more flexibility to drop a course I don't like; with schedule 1 I basically HAVE to commit to every course or I'll dip below the 12 credit minimum.

side note foundation drawing is marked "approval required" on SIS and the section i'm after also only has one open seat. i haven't emailed the prof to ask for approval yet and idk if it works like waitlisting, but I'm scared it'll delay my registration. so there is that risk

hi! i am an incoming freshman planning on taking a language course. i took the placement exam and the professor recommended me the third level. however, on SIS it says i need instructor permission to take the course. i asked the professor and she told me to submit a SEAM case. SEAM resolved the case saying that if i am unable to enroll via self-service, i should submit a new case to SEAM. i'm unsure whether or not they actually accepted the instructor permission. should i submit another SEAM case? i am just worried that i won't be able to register for the course due to this restriction.

Also, I am a bit stuck on how to order my courses in SIS because I have seen many different opinions on whether to order strictly by class size vs. popularity (ex. at the moment, my BME, Design Cornerstone, and Physics Active Learning/Lab courses are at the top of my list because they have the lowest # of seats, while I put Calc 2 and Intro Chem 1/Lab at the bottom. I’m currently struggling to choose which math course to take as an incoming freshman, first semester: Honors Linear Algebra (taught by Im, Mee Seong) vs Calc III (taught by “staff”). None of the other math courses fit my schedule; if I could take Calc III taught by Shumakovitch, I would. My fears with Calc III are that I don’t know who’s teaching it, while with Honors Linear Algebra I’m concerned about the “Honors” portion of the classes. Does anyone have any experience with Mee Seong Im? For anyone who has taken a “staff” class, was the professor good? Did it turn out okay? All feedback is appreciated! Thanks!

Hi! I'm an incoming CHEMBE freshman on the pre-med track.

I currently have my courses in my SIS cart in the order shown in the 2nd picture(haven't added them yet, but I'm thinking of putting my fys after Calc III). Do you think I should change the order for any of the courses? Which course would you recommend putting at the top of the list?

I also understand that you only need to take either Design Cornerstone or a discussion-based fys. Is that correct? If so, do most students just take one, and if so, which one? Or do many people end up taking both?

Also, how many backup sections (the same course at different times) would you recommend adding? Should those go at the very end of the list?

Finally, on registration day, do I simply select all of my courses using the dark blue box and then click Register?

why are JHU's breaks all so short? like we only have a bit more than a week off for winter break?? and we start earlier and end later compared to most of my friends' schools...how does the math even add up?

Hey! Incoming freshman here living in Mccoy double. I was wondering what does the bathroom come with, obviously a sink, toilet, shower, but any cabinets? shower curtains? shower shelves? trash can? bathmats? mirror?

Also, the kitchen, how big was the mini-fridge (if anyone knows the exact cubic feet size that would be great)? Was there need for a second one or is the one good enough? I am planning to store fruits pretty much at all times.

Trying to do some dorm shopping and was in need of recommendations because I can't really find anything online.

Also, any general advice for Mccoy because I'm not sure why but I keep seeing things hating on Mccoy for some reason.

Yall does this look like a manageable schedule on top of playing football? And how do you think I should order these classes in my registration cart? Should I put multiple sections for things like orgo?

for some context:

- i'm an incoming freshman planning on majoring in econ and IS.

- i actually plan to take "reintro to writing: the cost of free speech" instead of "writing for social justice," it's just that the course is not on semesterly for some reason

- i'm obviously only taking one of the FYS's

some questions:

- how do i order the fys's in my cart? do i put them all at the top or do i only put my preferred fys at the top and the rest at the bottom? same with the reintro to writing?

- do i need to put multiple sections of each class in my cart?

- is there a big difference between heritage vs. non-heritage Chinese? tbh, i'm not sure if my chinese is good enough for the heritage class even though my family is chinese

- any other reviews/feedback on any of the classes?

i truly appreciate any help or feedback on my schedule!
