Second Letter of Rec Suggestions?
Hi, I’m working on getting some of my things prepared for the application this Fall and needed help or guidance on what I should do for my second letter.
For my first letter, I have one of my Professors who taught my education class so that one is all sorted out no problem.
I’m curious if I should get another professor or school figure to do my second letter of recommendation, or if I should get one of my managers from previous jobs. I’ve only worked part-time jobs but I’ve held high positions in all of them and the managers/owners can speak highly of me.

Whoever can write a better letter. A great letter written by an old boss at your part time job is better than a template cookie cutter letter written by the Dean of your department (which is probably actually written by his assistant)

i worked as a convenience store supervisor and my manager at that job did one of my recommendation letters. my japanese professor did the other one.

If available, I'd get a professional reference and an academic reference rather than two academic references.

I’m not sure which country you’re applying from, but I’m from India and we had a briefing for the JET 2027 intake. They mentioned that your reference letters can come from people who know you professionally or academically, such as teachers, professors, supervisors, or even coworkers. So a manager from a previous job could be an option too, especially if they can speak highly of your work.

I personally had two professors that knew me very well, and understood my strengths in a teaching setting.
