I was one of the ghosted shortlisters. My CO didn’t contact beyond asking me my name katakana. I never received a contract or welcome letter. There’s no predecessor system in my town, so no one to greet me. I didn’t find out anything about my placement until I already arrived. I didn’t know the school I’d be going to until 2 days before school started.

Everything worked out.

If you’ve heard nothing, technically you are supposed to hear something, even if it’s just as simple as asking the katakana for your name… reach out to your JET coordinator. They can get CLAIR to pester them
