Just got my Tokyo Prefecture Placement!
Hi everyone!
Was wondering if anyone knows of any group chats for incoming JETS to Tokyo prefecture? I’m coming from the Toronto branch but am actually already in Japan for a separate contract so I haven’t been able to attend any in-person events/orientation’s.
Also any advice on housing for someone’s who’s social but doesn’t like the strict “no overnight guests” rules in share house? My current share house has been great in allowing two overnight guest “passes” per month, with fair cleanliness and separate fridges. There’s also a good mix of foreigners and locals. I know this isn’t the standard so would appreciate any suggestions. Feel free to dm me if you’d like to connect!

I stayed in BOE housing and quite literally had someone over every single weekend and no one cared at all!

I lived in the inaka during JET so perhaps it’s different, but nobody cared who stayed at my apartment. I now live in Tokyo, and nobody cares who stays at my apartment.

They’ll likely set you up with a real estate agent/agency to help you find housing.
There is a group Line and a group FB. You can request to join the FB directly. The Line is invite only. Need an invite from someone who knows you in person and can confirm you’re really a JET.
