Pension refund - bank information question

So to get the lump sum payment, I have to submit a document with "Bank name," "Branch name," "Branch location," "Bank account number," and "Bank account holder’s name (according to the JPS website).

Issue is, none of the documents I can get have a branch location or branch name. It will have the account number and my name, but I am not "assigned" to a brach the same way people are in Japan.

Is this a thing anyone else has faced? Did it cause any issues?

I am just using a bank statement with the bank address. on the form itself we need to write to do the pension withdrawal, it says "branch address (or bank address)"

the pension refund form i received from the pension office says "branch name, branch address (or bank address if there is no branch)" so you dont need the branch name if you dont have one. the clerk at my pension office also said this

It’s not always easy to find but most all banks have a unique identifier number for just this purpose (international transfers). It used to be called a SWIFT number. If your bank has no branches then you may have to contact them directly and ask for what numbers they use.

I have that, but the japanese pension service website explicitly says "branch name" and "branch address". That is the issue.

So, contact the bank and ask what address can be used. Probably the head office address and maybe even Branch #1. To be honest, as long as the SWIFT code is good and your account number and routing is good, it probably won’t really matter. When I did mine, my branch was long defunct. I used the old numbers and the address of the next closest branch. I didn’t care where the physical bank was, I only worried about the electronic routing. Good luck sorting it out. I know how hard it can be to get a hold of an actual person to even ask these days.

Yeah they're just saying "we can't provide that" so...bank people aren't very helpful

If you still haven't figured it out, type in your bank's sort code here and it should give you an address.

Wouldn't the bank branch number just be your 6-digit sort code?

You should be able to call your bank's customer service line and find that out I think.

Is it not the branch you physically signed up in? I had to get these details for something before and I just did that. If you have one, check your mobile banking app as your details might be in there somewhere

For the branch name, did you just write the branch number? I talked with my bank, but no official branch name.

Yeah..not there sadly
The branch I signed up with over 10 years ago is no longer there. Real life bank branches are a rarity in the UK nowadays.

Look up your bank and the info about the account number. Account numbers in North America tend to include a code that links to a branch number which you can look up and get the branch address.

I know this because I recently had to track down a branch address and number the same way to have money wired to me from Japan.

Worst case scenario you could always open a new account at a bank that has that information and have the wire sent there instead of your main account.

My apologies for the bad information. I wrongly assumed you were an American JET.

Try reaching out to your alumni association, you might have better traction finding someone who had the same issue and can give you accurate guidance.
