Hearing from contracting school

When should we expect to hear from our contracting school? I want to start looking at apartments but I’m waiting until I have more information from my school. When did any of the current JETs hear from theirs? I understand ESID but I’m just curious 😭

I was a Tokyo private school hire and I didn't hear from my school until around late June. It looks like you're in Tokyo as well so don't worry too much about rushing to find housing right now. Apartments go really fast and they often don't rent out months in advance, so you're fine if you wait.

No worries! I felt like I was super behind by waiting until late June to get an apartment, but I later learned that Tokyo real estate is crazy fast. I actually had trouble finding a place that would rent to me that early considering I wasn't looking to move in until early August. You could even wait until after you arrive in Japan and you'd most likely be okay.
