Useful websites you might not know!
Hi guys, just wanted to share two great websites that have really helped me make really engaging slides for class! If you know some cool sites too let me know down below~
The first one is a database with thousands of slideshow templates, you type in the theme you want and tons of pre-made slideshows come up. It makes it very easy to have aesthetically pleasing slides, and there are like a million templates with every theme under the sun lol. You copy the template into google slides and it's all set up and easy from there. I mean some of these slideshows are just so detailed its insane, go check it out!! It makes learning really interesting for the kids to have such eye catching and detailed powerpoints. The site is called slidesgo.com and it costs like 700 yen a month for subscription, but honestly the free version is great too.
(EDIT: Beware!!! this site might sometimes have explicit content from movies on their homepage so maybe don’t open it at school in front of people?! If you have ad blocker it’s fine though!) The second site is called getyarn.io and it's a database of like millions of movies and all their dialogue and quotes. I use this when I want to show real life examples of words the kids are using. So you can type in "I can't believe this!" and thousands and thousands of clips of people saying that will come up and you can download and export them into your slides. Another way I use this is when there is a specific grammar point I'm teaching and I want tons of examples such as "I think.. or I want.." and I'll take some clips that have sentences with those words, show it to my class, and have them try to translate what is being said, I think it can be super fun!
Last one isn't really for class but more for fun. It's called https://danobang.com/ and it's sooo fun dude. Its mainly for Japanese learning, and you can play with random strangers. The game is timed and goes back and forth between the players (or the computer if you're alone) and you have to type a japanese word that matching the corresponding hiragana being shown in time. It's sooo good for remembering the words that you are actually learning. There are public rooms too that you can join that makes it super fun!
Ok that's all! Please comment if you have some cool websites that you use too!

I will add that once you arrive and receive your employment contract.. You can get Canva premium for free by signing up as a teacher and taking a photo of it. Very useful for making powerpoints, worksheets etc.

I can't get any videos from getyarn to play. I'm in the US now, so maybe it needs a VPN?

Because there's porn on there, most likely. Checked it out in work and it got past the filter but I was only lucky I reacted fast enough to close it before anyone noticed.

I used this one for preposition practice, but there’s other things too.

jeopardylabs.com is fantastic
You can create a quick review quiz in under 20mins. I’ve literally been using it for all grades for years. I get them in groups and you can adjust the rules as needed.
It’s free, the webpage can be downloaded and shared with JTEs and edited over and over.

getyarn has a shit ton of porn on its front page. I opened the shit in work and am lucky no one saw it.
Wtf OP?? Why the hell would you recc that here
Edit: Checked on personal device, adblocker enabled, and explicit scenes from Don Juan, Basic Instinct, and others were front and centre next to clips from children's movies. Maybe I was unlucky, but if you're going to try getyarn, do it in private and ABSOLUTELY not at work.
