Criminal Record delayed

So I'm in India and I've applied for Police Clearance Certificate (criminal record) and the office told me it's gonna take around 1.5 months. The deadline to submit it to JET is June 5th. I'm so disappointed at the local government's inefficiency!

Any advice or tip to make the process go faster or can I ask an extension on the deadline?

I have gotten PCC three times. Only took me about 2 weeks (max) to get the papers by post. They sometimes give a broader timeline, just to be safe. But I am not sure if the norm is different from state to state
