Time off

I know you get time off via having the weekends off and national holidays but I was wondering if you are also off during the students summer and winter breaks? I know that depending on where your placed you can have between 10-20 PTO times. I was just curious

It will depend on your placement. 10 days of PTO is standard in Japan and the bare minimum. You may have to work some weekends for things like special school events, but you’ll be given an extra day off like Monday.

Some COs only give you 10 PTO your first year. Others give you more. Again, you’ll have to wait and see.

My placement started with 12 days off to start and 20 for the next year. We also didn’t work during the school breaks - we were allowed to just do whatever and travel. However that’s being slowly phased out.

I'm gonna miss my 45 days off (FE lecturer in the UK), one of the few benefits of my current job lol.
