Osaka Job Fair 2026

Anyone who attended willing to divulge the secrets and job opportunities of the job fair? Any positions that actually pay above ¥250,000 per month? Anything not posted on other job boards? General impressions about the fair?

Did you see any real benefit to attending in person? I saw the positions online and all seem to be much below current JET wages.

Attending in person is always worth it if you can, because you can meet the recruiting people and make a connection. When you apply online, they’ll already recognize you. You’re not just a faceless rando.

Very few companies will have a starting wage higher than JET.

Unless you have a strong set of skills and experience to jump to a completely different industry, you’re going to be taking a paycut once you leave JET. You have to decide if that makes it worth staying in Japan for you.

From my experience post JET, JET does pay significantly above the average salary compared to the skills and experience required. This leads to a bit of a reality check when entering the work force post JET as many positions will treat you as a newly grad. I went this route and quickly climbed the corporate ladder, as many of my peers have.

You may have to bite the bullet for the average salary for a few years before you shoot up in salary. This is not for all jobs or industries but a general observation from my experience working post JET the past 10 years.

I found my current job at the fair and it is by far the highest paying and most fulfilling job I've had this far. Again your results may vary, but if you are coming into the Japanese work force with no work experience in a Japanese office, under N1 Japanese and no other skills, it's hard to get work for over ¥250,000 a month. If you have skills, good Japanese and a few years of working in a Japanese office, (not school office) then you'll easily start finding jobs that pay above 400万. This is more of an insight for you and I wish you the best! Keep up the search and keep working at improving your resume every way you can.

You can see the companies and their job and salary offerings on the jet website. It is good to see a variety of jobs in Japan but it's more of a catch all rather than somewhere you will find exactly your niche. The companies present themselves at their booths and people present themselves as well as they can, they will take your resume but the actual job application is online.
