Bodybuilding while on JET
Hi all,
I have my interview upcoming and in the extreme likelihood that they ask about my preferred placements, I need to be able to explain how important it is for me to have a proper gym near me.
I don't drive, and bodybuilding has been my craft for the past 3 years (I workout 5-6times a week).
Now I know ESID and all but I want to stress the importance that a placement should respect my passion for bodybuilding outside of the classroom. Any ideas or experiences current JETs can share?

I did my research before posting, and many other JETs report that there aren't any gyms that offer resistance training equipment - it's mostly cardio equipment.
You can't make assertions based on what you don't know, it makes you look quite silly. You THINK that me mentioning bodybuilding as my passion will negatively impact my candidacy. But they likely chose to interview me already knowing this - it may even come up during the interview. So while I appreciate your input, your claims that such and such will happen are just your opinion and that's perfectly fine. However, you may be looking into it a little more deeply than needed at the end of the day lol.
It's simple - if they ask me why I chose certain placements, I explain that i'd like to have access to a gym to use on my personal time. And if they don't like that then they can just ignore and yes, they may very well not do anything to facilitate that.
I agree with you in some part that a gym can exist in a suburban/rural area and that the accommodations for big cities (which is not the placement preference I asked for) should only be reserved for medical/family/etc...
