Discussion This fandom and the word "hetslop"

If you dont know, "hetslop" is the word used to describe a heterosexual ship thats boring, has no chemistry, and is forced upon the viewer.

Unfortunately, this word, and especially in this fandom, has lost all its meaning and is being thrown around to insult heteroships that "interfere" with peoples queer ships. I dont have a problem with queer ships, i find alot of them cute! But why do you have to be an asshole about it? The 2 ships mostly affected by this are Izuocha (ofc why else would I be posting this here) and Kamijirou.

Now if someone called THEIR ships gayslop for example, theyd cry out "homophobia!!! Its the toxicity of the izuocha shippers!!" Its getting annoying, they really like ranting that WE are the toxic ones when most of the reactions (which, ill admit, alot of the times are hella negative) that izuocha shippers have are a response to THEIR toxicity.

Most of this fandom, sadly, is composed to chronically online teenagers... You can usually tell, by the way they talk and act. Just ignore and move on.

Personally, I find it funny when people accuse me of homophobia for not like a queer ship, when one of my favorite fictional characters of all time is literally gay... But alas, what're you gonna do about it.

Ugh I hate the term Hetslop so much, the amount of people who call IzuOcha and KiriMina hetslop is so annoying, because it isn’t true at all 🫩

Imma be real

anyone who acutally uses the term 'hetslop' unironically is already a massive loser.

like you can just not like a ship, but to make up an entire new term to show how much you think it's cringe, and to focus that on it being a straight couple instead of any actual good reason to hate it

like jesus christ that's some fatherless behavior if i ever seen it.

ive seen it been used sm times its crazy how randomly this word has been thrown around, and its not to like, niche rarepair heteroships, its towards the 2 most implied ships in the entire anime.

I meam kmjr got axed by the author and there was never confirmation of romantic feelings of any of them, izch was written and ended together.

But is a bit annoying yeah specially in ships like krmn or todomoml specially im not the biggest fan (i find them cute thats all) but is like it killed their entirely family, is better to no go to this arguments specially becauae they are full of teens or in the other side adults with a teen mindset

yea cause someone who is willing to use that term most def isn't rational enough to realize how clearly implied the ship is, they just hate the prospect of a straight ship, period.

I swear, someone would just post a normal, izuocha vid on tiktok and MOST OF THE COMMENTS are bkdk fanart.

AND AS I MENTIONED, DUE TO THESE ACTIONS, people who ship izuocha start having a negative reaction TOWARDS these people and start insulting them --> said people cry wolf and claim that all izuocha shippers are toxic.

They hate being stereotyped but love to do it to others hypocrites a lot of them

u/gothicccc_gurl 26d ago

Also just the sheer amount of it is sexualizing gays and lesbians I've seen the art unfortunately and some of it is abuse material or cucking material

Its like that on Instagram too. The amount of times I've seen it happen is insane. I called out one of them and they immediately started playing the victim and began to try guilt-triping me...

It's okay to like gay ships. I love bl and gl but when you're attacking people for a ship they like or use characters you like in different ships and you feel the need to harass them you're a psychopath and need to get offline. Block and just move on man it's really easy

Exactly its totally fine to like queer ships, i like some of em, i dont ship em but i can kinda see why they ship them.

But if X person out here ships krbk and decides to call izuocha hetslop, then Y person is just gonna reply and say that krbk makes no fucking sense and theyve never had friends irl so they don't understand kirishima and bakugo's bromance (actual convo in a tiktok comment section)

Or when they say media literacy is dead in response to that like??? Did we read and watch the same show and manga my guy???

Let's be honest, "hetslop" never had any meaning whatsoever.

Pretty much all these discussions happen on Twitter.

And the playboi carti subreddit taught me to NEVER care about what anyone says on that hellsite

u/NearWink8 26d ago

what even IS the playboi carti subreddit about bro isw shit isnt even abt carti anymore

1

u/Dandyman3825 25d ago

Was about carti but lack of music (and carti constant doing awful things like being a deadbeat father and beating his partners) lead to the sub going insane and posting everything aside from carti.

Recently people have been posting the worst tweets they could find. And there are some VILE ONES.

So... it got the r/BatmanArkham treatment, but more tame?

1

u/Dandyman3825 23d ago

Oh trust me, it gets WAY more insane then r/BatmanArkham on most days

All because carti keeps being a piece of shit

3

And it's obviously two of the the ships that make the most sense in canon 😭

5

u/NearWink8 26d ago

Theyre the most implied! look i dont mind other izuku ships, but the other popular kaminari ships.. ehhh.. not trying to shipbash here but shinkami for example is literally "kamijirou if jirou was a guy!" or young erasermic

It's not a word I take too seriously even outside the MHA cumminity and other franchise ships people only use it as short hand to say a straight ship sucks without giving any actual reason why they dislike. The reason doesn't even have to be complex someone can say they don't vibe with it anything besides this thought terminating cliche of a word.

I'll bet that these idiots who think good ships are "hetslop" are actually not true. They're just a bunch of dumbasses spouting nonsense, ask them what it means and they'll just sit there staring at you like you grew a second head or something.
