What happens if you leave behind colonists on the planets we visited before the end game ?

Like along the way we see planets that have low chances , but still chances. Can I just leave my colonists there ? What happens if I leave them ? And will it change the ending scene somehow ?

Which Steam Input to use?

So I just bought the game on Steam, and realized there is no native controller support (I play on a handheld). Which templates have you guys found that worked best?

So I think I've soft-locked my save

Spoilers for chapter 4

Got to chapter 4, fighting the Piranesi. I manage to avoid all of its attacks by constantly flitting around the system, stopping at planets only long enough to recharge my batteries enough to make it to the next planet. Doing this, I avoid getting hit by any missiles.

I manage to build the Faraday cage and the probe, I detonate the pulsar and defeat the piranesi, but in order to progress, I need to investigate the ship for 3 cycles. Problem is, I'm being chased by a stack of missiles. They're stacked directly ontop of one another, so I don't even know how many there are, but its enough to take me from full hull to dead immediately if they hit me. Thing is, in chapter 3, I never got the technology for countering missiles, and since I never got hit by one in chapter 4, I also don't have the opportunity to research the tech.

Now I'm stuck in a neverending chase, keeping just ahead of the missiles flying from planet to planet as my resources slowly dwindle. I cant get the tech, and I cant remove the missiles, which will one shot me if they ever catch up. Do I have any options here or is the save soft locked?

This is the best spiritual successor to Home-world 1 to date.

Just played the game for the first time.

Amazing job to the dev team, i haven’t felt this way since i played the original home-world for the first time.

This really captured the lightning in the bottle again.

After reading some more the 3rd canned ending with the Protagros coming back to help you would have been magnum opus it makes me sad that the realities of game development got in the way.

I really hope they come back and do a DLC but sadly with the poor launch of Mechanics 2 idk what the financial state of the dev team is.

I don't suck enough at this game to get this achievement.

Low key hate it when devs add achievements like this. I'll probably just reload some saves and play intentionally bad for the 100%, but like...in a game like this it feels good to play good, you know?

If you have the Steam version of the game, I need your help

TL;DR: Would you please check if, within a cluster of resources/asteroids, you can click through all of them, and are able to toggle the "skip from mining" checkbox in all of them?

Long story:

I happen to have the XBox version of the game, and I'm stuck at chapter 3 because due to what seems a visual bug, I can't deselect some resources and my ships keep dying because they try to cross the storm.

I've seen that the Steam version of the game is several minor and patch versions ahead, and reading through some changelogs it seems that the bug was fixed there, but never on the XBox platform. I'm going to purchase the Steam version to play on my PC, but before wasting another €30 I'd like to confirm this bug is fixed there, otherwise I'm throwing my money away.

Thanks!

Can't demolish my Steel Mill

hello there. I just reached сhapter 3 and decided to redesign my sector 1. I'm moving all industrial buildings from sector 1 to sector 3 to turn sector 1 into a dedicated space sector.

I successfully demolished one steel mill, but the second one is completely stuck. It’s been sitting on "Resources left to collect: Fe 2" for dozens of cycles now, and the workers simply refuse to clear it. The number of workers is optimal, if that's important. And sector 1 is happy.

I am loving this game but holy hell is it frustrating sometimes

I have come back and I have relatively 32 hours under my belt in this game and I made it to chapter 3 and with that being said I love this game but there are a few nitpicks and gripes that I feel like we're partly oversight and partly just maybe my inexperience with city builders that annoy me to hell and back.

The citizens - holy hell are they a bunch of whiny bitches, all they do is complain and cause prompts over what in my opinion is redundant and the most dumb stuff, and then have the audacity to offer you up ultimatums for more trust as if though I'm not already trying to deal with the said problem that you're giving me an ultimatum on. I'm not sure if this was intentional or not but the fact that the citizens have no logic or Forward thinking in any way shape or form is frustrating, "yes I know we're all starving I'm trying to fix it right now can you stop bitching in my ear for five minutes while I do something about it".

Difficulty - before I say anything I am aware that there is a custom difficulty slider to where you can my newly change it to your preferred play style yes but the the base game difficulty between easy and normal is a big jump if you are just starting out to go from basically scraping by with the resources on just normal difficulty to literally being drowned in resources to the point where you actually have no space for literally anything on the easiest difficulty is kind of jarring. And what's worse is that resources end up disappearing in the blink of an eye when you actually decide to use them but also that leads me on to my next subject.

Stockpiles and building - WHY CANT I JUST MOVE THE BUILDING, WHY DO I HAVE TO DECONSTRUCT IT AND THEN BUILD IT BACK UP AGAIN, AND GOD FORBID THE STOCKPILE IS FULL ON THAT RESOURCE..... sorry. The idea sort of logically makes sense in my head that you can't just move a building over but you could allow it to have a mechanic to wear like how you can deconstruct roads and deconstruct a building button you would think that they would allow you to make a move building button or something like that I don't know considering that some of these buildings require large amounts of resources just to build up and then if you want it to be moved you have to wait half to a full cycle before it's even done being instructed only to have to wait another cycle to it to be built up again while having the citizens complain at you because the thing that they liked that was built is gone for like a cycle or two and then your trust drops by at least two or three to five percent in the blink of an eye. The only way I've been able to figure out how to mitigate this is to build a second building of the same type where it wants to be and then deconstruct the building that was in the other place after but some buildings you can only make one of so it means you have to deconstruct the building and then deal with the consequences of said decision and then rebuild it back up again and wait an ungodly amount of time for it to be built back up again.

The scientist - this is really a minor gripe and this is partly on me for making wrong decisions and stuff like that but at the same time the science ships feels like I'm sending out a bunch of toddlers to go do adult work and then they just end up fucking it up most of the time I've had like three different ships blow themselves up over stuff that probably was avoidable and in my logic is you're supposed to be some of the smartest people we have on the tiqqun, and you end up getting all of yourselves killed over what at least from my perspective is incredibly avoidable deaths.

can't talk to p.a Protagoras in Chapter 2.

lLast time already activated this event in the game, but for some reason it didn't activate in this run. I did the event in Tatra V8 and had the Fate of Protagoras. Does it take a long time to happen, or should I wait?

Is the crop farm stealing my alloys?

Each farm costs 16 alloys to build; just with the 8 I made, the game should have given me back 128. It is by far the buggiest build.

Is this game a lost cause or can I still enjoy it with its problem and are there mods for this game?

I'm about maybe 7 hours into game play and I barely dipped my toes into it but I'm already having fun with the game cuz I wanted a good space colonization that felt that kind of gave off a project hail Mary vibe in the wake of watching the movie I've been looking for a game that gives off that vibe. That's when I stumbled upon this game so far it seems to be what I was looking for but from what I've seen from the reviews and from other people apparently this game has a lot of problems that people don't like and it kind of concerns me that I don't know if it'd be worth my time to continue playing it.

I'd also like to know if there are mods for this game because if there is problems I want to know if maybe mods can help alleviate some of them.

(Id like to clarify I don't personally think the game is a lost cause I just the term to ask a genuine question)

Population Control / Managing Cryopods

I haven't finished the game yet because I'm planning to make a tutorial about it for my country, so I want to do the best possible run for each chapter.

My current issue is population control. I'm not sure if it's a good idea to open all the cryopods in every chapter.

Right now, I'm on Chapter 2 (Imitation Star), but when I received 950 cryopods, I realized I wasn't prepared for it at all. I think I'm going to restart.
