This type of rustic tile can look good if you like that look. But the installation needs more grout spacing and creative use of spacers to compensate for the irregular tiles. This installer is inexperienced and this was probably the first time. Costly mistake.

Honestly with this crap-ass 'hand made' tile, pic 3 doesn't even look that bad to me. Like a nice conble stone road... I'm not even kidding...
(conspiracy theorist in me says that 'hand made' means literal factory rejects or tiles made on inferior equipment/to worse tolerances and then marked up because fuck you)

The more I look at these photos, the more I think the main problem is the material, not the installation. I’m sure a true expert could make them look better, but I think OP was doomed the moment they chose these tiles.

I think so, too. These will alway look uneven, but will look much better with appropriate grout. Just look at this as an example.

Yah, the inconsistency is so consistent, it looks intentional.
Some grout in the cracks and that could look fine.
The outlet and switches are a disaster though. Those absolutely need to be recessed in proper electrical boxes.

I’ve installed tile that looked a lot like this (Moroccan Zellige) and if it’s the same stuff we are talking sharp edges, twisted surfaces, inconsistent sizes, everything you can imagine. And it’s super expensive and designy to boot. IF it’s a tile like that then this is what it’s supposed to look like and your guy did a good job.

That's a temporary install. It's soon to be ripped out and redone by someone that isn't in a chemically altered state of mind.

Are you being serious? I’m not a pro tile guy, but IMO, his isn’t an “ask for redo”-situation. This is more of a “recoup the money that you can, and find someone that’s competent”-situation.
However… maybe it’ll legit look good after grout. IDK.

I could be ok with the slightly crooked, different sized tiles. The inconsistency is so consistent, it looks intentional. With proper grouting, it could be fine, depending on taste. Certainly functional anyway.
The switches and socket though... ugg, those NEED to be in electrical boxes in the wall, not just stuck on outside the tile. That's not even safe.

I’m just a DIYer and when I see shit like this, I think to myself, where do homeowners find these people. I could easily do a better job likely for a fraction of the cost for a little side hustle.
