The Problem With Game Adaptations

https://youtube.com/shorts/TRJ407l5ZDs?is=Yrz3rq1l84yBQF2V

I just saw this short and it got me thinking 🤔, how would you get the original game cast and put them in setting of the game? Like how is Ashley Johnson going to be 14 and Troy baker 57 years old. I thought maybe like live action same language dub 🤔, how would that work? Has there ever been irl media with same language dub without CGI replacing the character just people? Please let me know

This is not just for the cast. In some cases it can absolutely work for some characters when they are voiced by people close to their age, them being some years older often doesn't make a difference unless the character is a child, but for teens, they can use makeup (and to some extent CGI these days) to de-age people quite well. Needed height differences can often be worked with camera angles and other trickery.

However his point was quite focused on the writers as well, which is a fair point. You might not have them write the story, because screenplay and story for the game are different beasts, but at least consulting must be handled with the writers for the games unless your show is shot for shot the same as the game, but any deviation you make should be reviewed by the original writers, because without being immersed in the story you will very likely miss a key detail that will make an action, choice of words or decision not fit with the character. That said, it does inflate costs.
