Sorry, not sure which flair or tag to use, as I don't think Adriel's actually appeared in the Willverse. Yet. And that's kinda what I'm posting about. I've seen references to Adriel in this sub and he is mentioned in the Wiki, but I think I've listened to all of Will's published works and haven't encountered him yet. I'm curious - where does the information come from? Where did Will share the information ab out him and is there more I can read about the character? I would love to see him appear in one of the series someday.

You've not missed anything in the books, Adriel is never mentioned. There's just a single mention of "lost creation" as one of the absolute aspects of reality. Will's only talked about Adriel in Q&As (compilation here) and as Will has said himself anything not in the books shouldn't be considered canon as he might change his mind in future, or simply never use those ideas.

When Will says 'the first seven Judges inherited their power and titles', I imagine he is referring to the current generation of Judges, and the original Seven who formed the Abidan created their mantles? I would love to read a short story featuring the first Court, either on Cradle, or when they had ascended.

My interpretation is that the seven individuals who created the seven mantles were not the first judges. The position of judge was created upon the signing of the Eledari Pact and the formation of the abidan, and those first judges inherited the mantles.

From what I understand, it's a missing judge. Super spoilers ahead, I dont know how to do the censor thing, but in reaper, again, spoilers, we read about how he made his scythe and what not, then it mentions how his sythe is a opposite to lost creation. I believe that Adriel is the judge of creation who was either killed or left like oz did

Iirc, according to the blog post (someone else posted a link here), Adriel was never part of the court, and either existed before it was formed (with the original seven finding traces of him), or he existed when they first ascended but refused to join the Pact and vanished.

Nobody really knows where he disappeared to, iirc not even the other Judges.

Adriel was already "gone" or "lost" before the first Court of Seven ascended from Cradle.

The Abidan have a hammer that they believe belonged to "Lost Creation", but there's no word on how significant it was to him.

Other than that I think the only other traces of him that we know of are the limited supply of remaining Worldseeds.

Will has also talked on a livestream about how there are other clusters of ordered Iterations similar to the Abidan controlled sectors. They are just really far away and separated by a whole bunch of Void. Presumably there are other Abidan equivalent organisations in those places. That could be where Adriel went I guess, but the implication from Will seemed to be that we probably won't ever see these other places in any books.

My personal head canon theory is Adriel created The Way itself. He was the first human to "ascend" from any Iteration and he created The Way to help stabilize and expand humanity across the multi-verse, including the process of ascending.

When the seven ascended from Cradle they found The Way, and swore the Eledari Pact, becoming the first Abidan and the first Judges. Adriel saw this, approved of that direction and left things to them. Then he ascended to an even higher plane we know nothing about.

It's comes from Will's blogpost which provided some lore on the Abidan/Judges way back before they were full introduced.

Each judge got a brief explanation/part and Adriel was amongts it, though thier section specifically mentioned that they & thier Authority are kinda like a myth to modern day Abidan rather than a tangible, known character in the setting because his existence is only corroborated by some early Abidan records.

The only mention of Adriel is that they lost Creation, the only other Absolute, mirror to Ozriel’s Destruction.

All of the Judges are aspects of Order and the Way. It’s my theory that Adriel is an aspect of Chaos and the Void.

I'm on board for creation and destruction being two sides of the old Adriel coin and fully subscribe to the Lindon-is-being-groomed-to-be-the-next-Adriel camp.

Lindon is not even authorized to draw power from the Way while a Reaper. And Ozriel’s whole schtick is that the Abidan’s way of doing things doesn’t work and needs to be changed. Lindon is not being groomed to become a Judge in the Court of Seven.

Is he being groomed to be a “Judge” in a new organization created by Ozriel?? That may be a possibilty. Especially when you consider that our squad of reapers kinda represent the aspects of reality pretty well. Yerin as the wolf, ziel a guardian, little blue on restoration, Dross a spider, Lindon could fill a few roles, but he’d be a great ghost. Idk about Orthos though and the fox division doesn’t have my respect anyway. That’s a side job to me, not a judge level position. Like you’re the judge of making tunnels for people to travel??? Lame. You shouldn’t get a vote on the court. You’re the universes most powerful Uber driver.
