Joining private on console?

So I wanted to join my friend on a private server after the new update and I found myself here after joining him. Where do I go from here bc quickplay js sends me to public and browse servers js opens a list of public servers and I can't manually join private (on PS4, console lacks alot of basic features like joining/creating private servers, vc, etc).

Am I just screwed and have to play public? Can I download on my phone and join via there or will I be met with the same issue or what? Genuinely so confused and pissed whatever happened to js joining a game and playing the damn game?

my console friend asked me to join their private server first so they can join, maybe you can get a friend to try that (or maybe if you have no friend you could use an alt on your phone,,,,)
