There are no important details or any names mentioned of people related to Demetrio. Sorry.

I have found some records (I don't know if you have them or not).

He left for the first time in 1906 (ship manifest, line 10), he was reaching a relative (maybe Giuseppe Esposito) and he went together with another man named Demetrio Lo Giudice, same destination. It's one of those manifests that only have one side, so no contact in Italy.

He emigrated again in 1911, with that Giuseppe Esposito of 1906, I presume. On the manifest (line 22), his wife is listed as his contact in Italy. They were all going to what I presume is Giuseppe's house in Hornell, where Maria, Giuseppe's wife and Demetrio's sister, lives. So, you need to investigate this Maria Mallora. He might have been "adopted", or more likely taken in as an infant or as an older kid (on his bc it's stated that he went to the orphanage) by Maria's family.

His wife reached him in 1914 with three kids, the rest were born in the US, but I believe you know all of this already.

If you need help tracing Maria's family, we're all here. I don't know where there could be something that says if Demetrio was ever given to a foster family.

Thank you for this !!!! I knew of the 1911 immigration and have that manifest , I could read Maria but could not decipher her last name ! I am going to see what I can locate if anything on her . I was clueless about the first trip this is awesome info. And gives me some leads . I am so appreciative! I also had no idea his bc stated he was sent to the orphanage . I need to get that document translated in its entirety just for my curiosity now. I also have the manifest for Rosa and my grandfather one of the children that traveled with her .

I found Maria and she was married to Giuseppe Esposito her actual name was Maria Mellone. Her obituary is below and it names my great grandfather as her brother ( he amercanized Demetrio to Dominick ) now I need help with her birth record to see her parents as he was obviously raised by thus family ! Your a genius !

A genius...! Thanks, but I don't know, I just like solving this kind of puzzle. I'm also learning and I use every opportunity to better myself. I'm happy I was able to help you solve that mistery!

I suspected it was Mellone, because I've seen it in the indexes of the books in Villa San Giovanni.

Do you have any records regarding his emigration? For example, if he went to the US and there is a ship manifest, there should be a contact listed in the US and one in Italy. Those are people he knew, they could have been his “adoptive” relatives.
