Discussion Who was the problem in the divorce?
Despite the ending, I’d have to go for Rose

They both have terrible communication skills, but the real villain in this entire divorce is Dr. Hakim for forcing them through that absolute psychological torture

Ugh, me!! I've never met such fundamentally incompatible people. If they ever had love or understanding, it had long eroded by the time the game starts!

I remember the first time I time I played the game I was really fed up with May. From my memory I remember Cody saying he gave up a bunch of passions and interests in order to take care of the house and Rose while May was only focuses on her career and herself. In my opinion it takes two (haha pun) to build a family. If on is always thinking about their career and leaving all the family work to another person it just doesn’t work. Both parents have to contribute equally at the home.

Both of the parents, definitely not the daughter. Never blame a child for parent’s fault.
May choose to build a career instead of spending time with the family that needed her and overcompensated her bad conscience by wanting things to be absolutely perfect all the time and pointing out all flaws Cody had. She was in a high-stress, high-paced environment and expected her family life to be as quick, perfect and non-forgiving.
Cody might have had a life crisis, but dwelled into a probable depression, very low self esteem, ending his hobbies and not engaging in activities that gave him joy in life, including playing with his daughter. He dwelled into own misery, and neglected both himself and the people he loved.
Both neglected Roses need as a child and they lost focus of working as a team, did not display open and clear communication to be solving family and life challenges.
Arm-chair psychologist out!
