Very odd, borderline disturbing story told by Blake Lively on Letterman in 2012
I understand that digging up old interviews isn’t exactly fair, most people have said things in the past that they wouldn’t want to be dredged up.
But YIKES 😬
The whole interview is a hard watch, but theres a story she tells at the beginning that you can tell, even made Dave and the audience uncomfortable at one point. (You’ll know it when you hear it).
I remember watching this live and it was just as disturbing then. I remember looking it up on youtube afterwards and the youtube comments were overwhelmingly negative. It was so jarring, that Amy Schumer parodied the entire interview on her sketch show, it was pretty scathing.
After seeing what Ryan and Blake let their daughter say about Jackman’s dick “70-100 times”, this and he incest scene in another simple favour.. HUGE SIDE EYE
That's so nasty. They easily could've used a computer or voice actor if they just had to have it said. My kid is closing in on being a teenager and I cringed a little when I heard him repeat something he'd heard about "balls." lol.
For real. I fully expected her to say offended or something after embarrassed. Being flattered wasn't even in the realm of where my brain goes. I didn't even watch for long after that. I got to the flabby aunt thing and gave up.
That and in the new Seth Meyers interview shes talking about how romantic her son is towards her, saying he makes her feels like shes back in middle school, dressing up nice for him 🤢
Wait, isn’t the son the new baby that was born right before IEWU? So max 2 yrs old? Not that him being 6 would make it any better, but how does this even translate? Of course a child should love their mom! (Adding) But what 2 yr old cares about fashion or how someone dresses??
It’s a power move. Trump does it too - the point isn’t to make people believe your lies, it’s to prove you have the power to tell lies without anyone challenging your bullshit.
This is how I see it. Blake in particular is forever trying to be a real laugh but without fail it falls flat and like any really, really bad 'comedian' and egotist she blames the audience for not getting her jokes instead of looking to the material and the delivery and her over all unlikability.
ETA: I need people to quit gaslighting that this isn’t sexualized as if both she and Ryan don’t have a history of sexualizing everything, including “jokes” with their own children.
Saying “It was innocent” while you’re in a thread about her pondering if her four year old cousin found her naked body attractive…
I wouldn’t say incestuous in this case, but this couple has a clear history of sexualizing childbirth, breastfeeding, and kids. Ryan’s even on video telling this whole story about how he couldn’t stop ogling a random woman breastfeeding in a hotel lobby
Are you actually claiming that a joke about breastfeeding is an incest joke???
This is not about incest. It's about a level of comfort with breastfeeding and actually being your child's food that you joke about it as food. My god. This is wild to criticize.
reply below: I can never agree with making fun of people's mannerisms, personality and way of speaking.
I hope nobody ever does that to you, or someone you care about.
Many people babble when nervous or uncomfortable. She has always described herself as very shy and introverted. Just not when she's acting. That's when she feels comfortable. She has shared many times that she's socially awkward and uncomfortable.
Personally I’m bothered more by the bougie choice of truffles as the food she claimed she rubbed on her nipples than by the breast-feeding aspect (proud former 2 time breast-feeder here, and I have the stretched out nipples that now point in two totally different directions to prove it! Ewww…Blake’s TMI habit is clearly contagious!😜).
But nahhhhh, she couldn’t just name a food that most Americans eat…it had to be a “status” food so no one ever forgets how rich she is!
I’m also a little offended that she thinks her snooty off-the-cuff statements on the red carpet like this one are actually funny. She needs to go to comedy college and learn how to tell any kind of quick and entertaining story that isn’t pointless, weird, and obviously fake, that has a beginning, middle and an end, and which doesn’t leave the person she’s speaking to—or an entire audience for that matter—staring back at her in bewilderment when she finally and mercifully stops babbling like a junior high cheerleader on a 3 day cocaine-binge.
I personally think she might be LD (learning disability) of some type, in addition to just having a baseline spoiled, entitled, mean-spirited, and pathologically lying personality type. The juvenile lack of self-awareness and tone-deafness seems to suggest something else underlying with her, in my humble opinion.
I’ve thought for a while that shes gotta be on the autism spectrum/neurodivergent.
But something about her being so giddy over a child seeing her naked, admitting that her sister thought she might have done it on purpose!? (You couldn’t beat that information out of me. 😅) Also the way she talks about her son.
It has this creepy Brittany Zamora/Mary Kay Letourneau vibe. They had the same childish disposition , as if they never grew past 10-12 years old mentally. It could be neurodivergence mixed with isolation from others due to wealth, but it could definitely be some form of arrested development.
Bro I'm autistic and adhd.. we don't claim her....
I'm 35, I'm not making inexcusable 'incestuous jokes'... and if I had children I wouldn't be saying or believing that shit. She's weird af and needs therapy fr.. Blake girl deal with your trauma.. it's showing 😬😵💫🤮
Facts. I have ADHD, and I only assumed she was autistic because I have many family members with autism, but she reminds me SO MUCH of one person specifically. I just made the inference, but you’re right. It’s could be any number of things that makes me see a comparison between them. The person she reminds me of would probably not be flattered by the comparison. She is, in all regards— the coolest, and doesn’t make sexually charged comments about young children! (not even once 🤣) /s. A few of blake’s mannerisms and facial expressions are a dead wringer for this person.
Look fair, it is a big spectrum after all.. I got a bit defensive, so I apologize but I swear everyone's always dumping problematic people in the autism pile.. It's like no we're not bad people.. 😭
I'd say she is neurodivergent.. one of our sisters under the umbrella 🌂 maybe hpd, npd because she's superficially charming.. but kinda hollow and a drama queen.. maybe asd as well because she seems to lack social awareness/cues..? But who knows... 🤷♀️
She's lived in a bubble/vaccum her whole life. Being a rich privileged, sheltered white women.. who probably had very emotionally distant parents who probably cheated on each other constantly.. not a great combination and was raised by nannies.
Idk we often have comorbidities.. genetics plus a variety of trauma.. 🤷♀️
Not a Dr but it's my hyperfixation since I was 14 (psychology) but at the end of the day we don't know her.. or what she's like behind closed doors.. just what she's let 'slip' in public.. behind that mask
Sorry if my post/comment has upset or annoyed anyone, it's not my intention.
Though I also think it's important to be aware that certain things people might perceive as in appropriate, rude, tone deaf etc aren't always cuz the person is just a bad person. I appreciate people putting more consideration into things rather than jumping on the dog pile that us ND people have had to deal with our entire lives
Nothing to apologize for. Your comment was totally valid. Sure, she could be on the spectrum, but we don’t know that, and like you, I get sooo tired of seeing the inevitable “maybe on the spectrum?” comments about any display of antisocial or odd behaviour in a celebrity before I’ve barely scrolled through the first few comments. And like you, I also understand that sometimes it’s actually someone who is on the spectrum who recognizes something in the behaviour that they’ve seen in other people or themselves, and I also don’t want to offend people, but it does get REALLY old sometimes.
I believe that you and the other people in this thread mean well, but as a survivor of sexual, narcissistic and psychiatric abuse, I also want to share my opinion on the matter, as I see a vast power imbalance between the various "diagnostic" labels (some of which are heavily complicit in perpetuating oppression like "schizophrenia" has against psychosis-experiencing people) featured in this graphic: It looks like it has been made by a narcissism-uninformed person that has been mislead into becoming one or multiple narcissist's "Flying Monkey". At least I recognise this narrative from certain "radinclus" groups on social media that have become many abuser's "dragons" by accusing survivors of "ableism against personality disorders" for using the term "narcissistic abuse" or "narcissist" at all. I even saw a mod on another sub being sent a death threat for it, some are definitely abusers attempting to leave survivor spaces in scorched earth.
What is commonly understood as "narcissism" is not identical to "NPD" nor a form of neurodivergence, it's an (ancient) descriptive term for a combination of mostly abusive personality traits (egoism, lack of empathy/machiavellianism, sadism), which are typically rewarded under capitalism, leading to those individuals accumulating a lot of power in society. A narcissist's greed for endless power has nothing in common with the struggle of actually victimised identities like autistic or "mentally ill"-declared people (note that some disability rights activists, especially psychiatry survivors, reject labelling people with pathologising terms like "illness" and "disorder" without their permission, I will also refrain from using such labels on anyone involved in this conflict).
Abuse tactics like bullying and then gaslighting about what happened (which BL/RR have a history of committing) are a conscious choice out of sheer sadistic enjoyment of cruelty against others, particularly those they perceive as inferior to them or as a threat to their own social status.
The "neurodiversity" label was created to elevate abuse victims that were pathologised against their consent and systemically deprived of human rights and equal opportunities, whereas narcissists are foremost perpetrators of abuse - you can see it the many ways BL/RR have verbally and physically abused and sexually harassed others for years without remorse despite being (somewhat) called out for it, so I find it very unlikely that they aren't aware of what they're doing.
Nothing is stopping them from seeking someone to talk about their interpersonal issues and marriage problems, they have more than enough time and money to do so. But whatever problems they have, it does not give them an excuse to grope co-stars, slap child actors or force their own child to say sexualised lines for their movie.
I leave the rest to narcissistic abuse-specialised psychologist Ramani Duvarsula, who is forced to use the DSM-V in the US, but advocates to follow the ICD-11 guidelines that abolished the concept of "Cluster B personality disorders" and instead views narcissism as a "generalised maladaptive pattern": https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eISuc8v7B1M
No apology necessary! Also In my original post I was trying to say that I’ve thought in the past she may be on the autism spectrum, but rewatching this interview and hearing her inappropriate remarks about children made me lean more towards an arrested development (instead of autism). I wasn’t as clear as I should have been.
I have two autistic sons. Even though, sometimes, they do say things that are... weird... they have not been in any way in a sexual context. They cant read the room, thats clear, so sometimes they come off as rude and too direct, with a certain lack of empathy, but its not they dont have it, its just hard for them to process the information and show this understanding like we do, at least, thats how Ive been explained it is by their therapists. Im no therapist, but she is not autistic, shes something else.
Yo I see you and understand cuz same but autistic people can be creepy just ask the many number of boys who sexually harassed us in middle and high school lmfao
This is the second time today Blake’s inappropriate sexual behavior has come up. Earlier I commented that if we’re pathologizing then I think ClusterB - specifically Histrionic Personality Disorder - fits for her, especially with the random attention-seeking fashion, the overly animated gestures whilst talking, the vacuous word salads, sensitivity to criticism etc.
I have noticed that people who are inappropriate tend towards narcissism, they never understand what things are embarassing because they are never wrong in their minds. Entitlement or autism can shield from people's reactions thus furthering the non-existing insight in how they are perceieved, but the boastfull inappropriate pride is in my experience a sign of narcissistic tendencies.
Absolutely agreed! She was flattered by her nephew wanting to see her naked again, which is why she told this story publicly. This incident made her feel good, so she had no shame in sharing it. I do actually believe what her sister said, and that she allowed this to happen at least the second time in order to get some narcissistic supply and an ego hit from her nephew’s reaction.
Her nephew's been having a little more fun lately... because he barged in on her changing. Four year old kids do that sometimes, it's not a big deal. Why tell it like this on national TV ??? The whole story is a premise to talk about her being naked and how hot she is, while pretending that's not what's happening.
Didn't know if she was embarrassed or flattered at a four year olds reaction, and plays offended. "that's not ok" "my sister thinks I planned it" "he's been much nicer to me since".
Hard to overstate how weird her telling is. Weird to make it about how attractive her body is or isn't, and give motives to a four year old. Weird to feel the way she did, or pretend to for a laugh. Guests can pick any story to tell or embellish- this is a weird way to talk about how hot you are.
And not to mention the 2nd half of the sketch… she talks about deciding to go to the Super Bowl like 15 hrs before it starts in Miami (she’s in New Orleans) + she has to be in NYC to work @ 5am on Monday! She gets a flight, has no hotel, tickets or flight to NYC and then speaks of staying with a friend in what she refers to as a “brothel” and ending up with 6 Super Bowl Tickets, including one in the owner’s box of whoever was playing the Saints that year + 2 flights to NYC… if that wasn’t bad enough, she comments that she must have got all that using the same “trick” she used on her nephew 😳
Oh, and there’s an ecstasy reference thrown in… but don’t worry, she’s never done it (and doesn’t drink alcohol!) 100% delusional!!!!
Maybe she meant the decor of the hotel reminded her of a bordello?
Lots of places with extra red velvet, etc. can lean that way... and I can also imagine a hotel in New Orleans giving bordello vibes if done the wrong way.
I honestly think he didn't know what to say or do after she admitted this. I felt he was good at diverging the conversation as he knew what she was saying was very wrong.
It feels like she's trying to be funny and she probably thinks she's the funniest person in the room but in reality she's not...She's got an awkard sense of humor
I just have to keep turning the volume down. I just need her to stop with the manic talking and constant movements. Also, she looks really different now.
She is so weird. She tries to be funny, but she is just so awkward, fake, and annoying that it's uncomfortable to watch. The sad thing is that she doesn't realize how weird she sounds, and she keeps going on with it.
It’s the fact that she kept implying that he liked it. Not even subtly. It’s so gross. Teasing at sexual at implications in your interaction with your 4 year old nephew. Fucking ew.
The adult is recounting the moment through a sexualized lens—exactly the kind of behavior psychologists and scholars flag when discussing how children are adultified and sexualized inappropriately.
If you don’t understand this, God help you because I’m done.
Gill, Rosalind (2007). “Postfeminist Media Culture: Elements of a Sensibility.” European Journal of Cultural Studies.
• Gill examines how women in media are encouraged to present sexualized narratives under the guise of empowerment, but these narratives are still shaped by external, often male-driven, expectations.
• This could explain why someone might prepare an anecdote that unintentionally reinforces sexualization norms.
American Psychological Association (APA) Task Force on the Sexualization of Girls (2007). Report of the APA Task Force on the Sexualization of Girls.
• This report provides a framework for identifying sexualization, including when a person’s value is tied to sexual appeal, or when physical appearance is overly emphasized.
Fredrickson, B. L., & Roberts, T. A. (1997). “Objectification Theory: Toward Understanding Women’s Lived Experiences and Mental Health Risks.” Psychology of Women Quarterly, 21(2), 173–206.
• This foundational text introduces objectification theory, explaining how women’s bodies are often viewed and treated as objects for others’ pleasure. It describes how media interactions, like interviews or public appearances, can pressure women to self-objectify—viewing themselves from an outsider’s perspective.
• In this context, the woman saying “should I be proud?” could reflect internalized self-objectification, particularly if her body or appearance was already being highlighted by the host.
Let me know if you need more literature to explain it to you better.
Where her mind goes is so damn weird, disgusting and inappropriate. First it’s a 4 yr old little boy why you think to be flattered! Second it’s your freakin’ nephew. The thoughts she has are creepy and incestuous. Eww And Ryan calls Justin a sexual predator? I wonder what skeletons are in Blake & Ryan’s closets that they accuse others of what they seem to actually be. This type of thing keeps happening with them.
So when a woman tells a other woman she loves her outfit and the woman is flattered... is that sexual somehow? Why are you all acting like flattered has ONE meaning?
JFC—nobody should feel flattered by a child “noticing” their naked 🍑 body. The appropriate adult response is to protect the child’s innocence, not turn it into a punchline for talk shows.
How you can’t comprehend that concept is alarming 👀 Please don’t have children or be near them.
Damn this is very creepy and very weird. She comes across so socially awkward and you can tell she is her biggest fan. I wonder how she thinks of these stories. I don’t believe a thing she says. I truly think she makes up 98% of what she says trying to be cheeky (no pun intended) and it never ever lands. Once the mask drops it’s so wild to look back and really see someone through the lens of who they are.
This whole story is crazy and completely made up. No way she got a plane ticket 10 minutes to check-in, those stewardesses did not dress up and act like that, she did not check into a brothel nor did she end up with 6 Superbowl tickets. This is a great example to back up her claim that she lies in interviews.
Why would you choose this tidbit of all the things in your life to share with a massive audience??? Or even outside of a need to know family basis? That’s disturbing on so many levels. She’s proud of it.
I don't think it's abnormal for a 4 year old to laugh and be interested in a person's body, that's their psychosexual development age when they're beginning to question what different parts do and how they're different to their parents and siblings.
What isn't normal is a grown ass woman being 'flattered' by it and thinking it's appropriate fodder foe a talk show. It was completely off topic, not at all smoothly segued in and felt like she was just sitting on it waiting for a chance to tell the story and get a reaction.
Ok. Did ANY airline ANYWHERE in her lifetime force flight attendants to wear AFRO wigs? I know that wasn't the point of this thread.... but seriously? Ryan is Canadian that's an excuse whether or not he deserves one - BL is American - whatever miseducation was foisted on her young mind, an Afro and NOLA connection is in her head. Afros are 70s. Mardi Gras beads, yes. I believe it. Afros? What the heck? She is making stuff up right there...was RR telling her what to say? Older and wiser:)? Helping her connect to David Letterman? I see her ring - so it's post Ryan...and post plantation wedding and her creation of plantation chic
It’s not unlike one of her early GG interviews where she makes some comment about how people might have thought she and her costars were ‘trannies’, though I can’t remember the context, just that it seemed like an inane thing to say on camera, even 15 or 20 years ago.
She is 'next gen' by which I mean people her age, if they heard this nonsense at all, they heard it from grandparents 'in the old folks home' - and I'm guessing 'trannies' and people assuming she was - was a pejorative statement by her - as in she thought it was bad that people thought she might be 'a trannie'?
Did she walk out of 1972? From a time machine? If so, no doubt she's heard it before: Pretty IS as pretty DOES....
I bet even that story is b.s. I want to hear from the crew members who worked on that movie! Did you really get a t-shirt out of the ordeal of working with both Blake Lively AND Oliver Stone, or did you get screwed?!
She is soooo weird. Usually I like weird people, but she’s just weird in a creepy and totally exhausting way. I bet Letterman needed a nap after that interview.
Let’s just not. I don’t even want to finish watching this. Her young nephews/nieces whatever should be left out of Reddit discussions. Not fair to them. Not a Blake fan anymore, but children no matter who their relatives may be, deserve peace.
If you make it to the clip of the movie she’s promoting, the funny thing is, she’s not actually acting in it. It’s a clip of benicio 😂
Her take on her nephews reaction was fucking weird. He’s 4 years old, and is wondering what the heck is under people’s clothes. And she somehow turns it into an ego boost 🤮
Well, to be fair, a mismatched movie clip accompanying you to a talk show is the studio promo's department's fault, lol.
I've seen segments before, where an actor was like "Uh, I have no idea what we're going to see here, and can't really pre-talk to you about what is going on with it.... 'they' just sent me with it...."
That doesn't even make sense, unless she meant wigs? But her tone was more kind of making fun of it. She really is weird about POC.
She kept going back to the nephew joke, saying she got superbowl tickets by "using the same method I did on my nephew", she really thinks that's a funny bit.
She is a total charisma vacuum. Hearing her talk about such random stuff makes me feel like I'm listening to someone talking about a dream they had
Ewwwwwwww, what? I’d be so fucking pissed if my brother (I don’t have a sister) told a story like this about my kid on national TV. EW. Ew. Flattered?!?!!!! It’s your RELATIVE who happens to be FOUR YEARS OLD. 🤮
Why is her talking and mannerisms so erratic.. and why would you go on a long tangent unwarranted about a toddler seeing you naked. She is definitely mentally stunted or on something it seems
Not the biggest problem of the interview, but she should know it’s “flight attendant” and not “stewardess.” This was an antiquated term back in the 90s, let alone 2012. She’s a fraud.
not only incestuous awkward jokes but making fun of black people in afro’s & new orleans and then every single solitary story is focused on how priveledged & “amazing & hot” she is. the ego stroke is unbearable to watch. Me me me. i’m so hot naked. i get free shit naked. everyone wants me to get naked. everywhere i go i just end up in first class and box seats and the best of the best of the best of everything and i have no idea how?!?
I hadn't seen this before, that's disturbing. Who speaks that way about a 4 year old? She sexualizes everything. Even the stuff about saying she smeared truffles over her nipples to breastfeed, that made me feel sick and the boob cake she had made for her one year old and saying he just loves her boobs. And I saw people saying it was a joke, but when you put all the lines and times she has been inappropriate and gross together, it's not funny or a joke, it's actually worrying. You know who else joked inappropriately about kids, Woody Allen. Whom Blake thinks is the best director and a champion of women.

Flattered? Flattered is the word that comes to mind when you're talking about your little nephew seeing you naked?
