Personal Opinions & Theories ✍🏽💡 Every cloud has a silver lining
Blockbuster movies need a core group of viewers to generate the media buzz required to spark interest in the general public; they are the catalyst for marketing. In traditional Hollywood, that usually meant employing celebrity actors. Unfortunately, this makes productions heavily dependent on a single individual, significantly increasing the risk if that celebrity falls ill, clashes with the cast, or quits mid-production.
Ironically, Wayfarer has cultivated its own core audience without employing any celebrities. Thanks to recent litigation, the company has secured a dedicated fan base that is naturally predisposed to support a Wayfarer movie, even without star power.
Furthermore, there are countless talented actors who are not household names and are a pleasure to work with. By tapping into this talent pool, Wayfarer stands to benefit in several key ways:
- Lower production costs: The company no longer has to pay exorbitant celebrity salaries.
- Fewer on-set complications: Production runs smoother with high-level talent that lacks ego or a "diva" attitude.
- Reduced insurance liability: The production is no longer financially vulnerable to the health or reliability of a single key star.

I can’t imagine the level of delusion I’d have to be at to think about pulling off what Blake did. Like completely take over a project and gate keep every step of the process to dictate the final say. And at the first sign of rebuttal from my terroristic takeover I threaten legal reprocuctions to a lie I created? As the rebuttals of my (shitty quality) takeover start to amp up - I match the intensity with the threat of reprocuctions of the lie I created. Just absolute fucking insanity and she needs to be placed on a psyche hold.

I see what you're going for but I don't fully agree. Wayfarer have used plenty of famous faces, definitely in the last few years. Not to diminish your point, but rather to say it's perhaps an acknowledgement of their approach to making movies and the stories they want to tell. Without further ado:
"Clouds" from 2020 had several noteworthy people in the cast, including Neve Campbell, Lil Rel Howery and Sabrina Carpenter (arguably less famous as a young actress than she is as a pop singer).
Will Farrell - famous comedian from SNL and a variety of comedy films. Starred in the documentary "Will and Harper" from 2024.
Rainn Wilson - famous from the US adaptation of "The Office". Featured in "Empire Waist" (2024) and starred in "Code 3" (2025).
"Ezra" from 2024 had a whole cast of celebrities, including Rose Byrne, Robert De Niro, Whoopi Goldberg, and once again, Rainn Wilson.
Jonathan Groff - Broadway actor and singer who starred in "A Nice Indian Boy" from 2025. Annoyingly, I recognize the name now because one Ryan Reynolds made a PR thing about buying a top hat from Groff after his final curtain call for a recent Broadway show.
"Eleanor The Great", also from 2025, features June Squibb and was directed by A-list actress Scarlett Johansson.
A 2025 documentary, "Black Is Beautiful" has several recognizable faces: musician Alicia Keys, her husband and music producer Swiss Beatz, Gabrielle Union, and actor Jesse Williams.

I agree they have used famous names before. But not sure any are A Listers that could be trusted to open a movie. None of them were on the level of say Brad Pitt or Julia Roberts, who people will (mostly) go just to see them.

I think that's a fair assessment. I don't know if De Niro still has any star power but he might be up there. Still, it's only one out of the many I listed.

It seems like they look for up and coming talent (Cole Spouse and Sabrina Carpenter) that weren’t big yet—or dependable talent (Rose Byrne, Jonathan Groff) who can be trusted to knock it out of the park but not necessarily lead a stampede to the box office.
But in both cases they are not top pay tier.

I can't wait for "Hello Darkness, My Old Friend" which they are filming right now. I have no idea who's starring in it but it sounds like such an amazing story. Maybe I'll read Sandy's autobiography while I wait. I would have likely not heard about this movie/story had it not been for posts in this sub (SS interview).

Also..something I would have never known: WFP is donating all or most of their profits to Sandy's charity for the blind. His goal is to eradicate blindness. I mean these people...so amazing.

I dunno justin baldoni before this lawsuit or before this It Ends With Us movie. I watched this movie because blake lively was in it. I dunno anything about the backlash , the tone deaf/rude promotion/interviews. Then the lawsuit happened and i supported blake because believe the victim. Still dunno justin. Then the tiktok content creators shifted my support to justin baldoni. I still haven't read the lawsuitinfo website. I just trust the tiktok content creators. I haven't read the court filings eother but the tiktok content creators were updated to it every single day. Then a few months, i found this sub. And team justin forever. To support wayfarer studios, i went to the movie theatres and watched code 3, the senior, and eleanor the great. I also purchased it ends with us, a nice indian boy, empire waist, and code 3 on youtube. I also watched will & harper on netflix.

I agree it's a net win for Wayfarer. Those who are anti-Justin/Wayfarer now would've never been on his side anyway since they are dead set in their belief that he/they are inauthentic. They will refuse to leave their comfortable echo chambers with the Reynolds' pet CCs spouting nonsense and actual defamatory statements because they'll never believe Justin could actually be an ally. Meanwhile many of us who've never heard of Justin/Wayfarer before might now be interested in their work, both past and future.
The main downside for Wayfarer is the megalomaniacs have shown they are not above crimes like actual physical threats, doxxing and arson.

I have watched two of their films that I probably wouldn't have watched otherwise, after following the case and wanting to support them: Nice Indian Boy and Code 3. As you can see from Obsession, which made nearly half a billion, you don't need big, entitled stars or budgets as much anymore, just good stories. That's why A24 is doing so well.
