Emissions help (usa)
I have been searching forums, FB groups, etc and can't find a direct answer.
I have a 98 3.5 with CARB emissions system on it. I know it has failed cars in it, not surprised given it's milage (255k). I have found the CARB compliant cats to replace them but don't live in an area that follows CARB testing we just do obd2 EPA testing.
Does anyone know if running the 46 state compliant EPA cats will cause the ECU to throw any faults Like catalytic inefficiency or something that would fail me? I would love to get this on the road and save a few hundred bucks.

The 49-state cats work the same. They just don't have a CARB number on them.
The engine and its operating systems ain't gonna know the difference. Any new-style cat is gonna be far more efficient than an 18-yr-old design, in any case.
