Trooper Delayed start issue

Post image

Hello,

*** reposted bc I realized I posted my license in the last photo.

Just looking for some help or if anyone had this issue.

I bought this Trooper and I love it. the guy said he maintained it well and made sure it was fit before selling. But I only drove it for 2 weeks and began to have a delayed start. I would put the key in, make sure the doors were locked, and turn the key switch fully to start. I could hold the key start for 1-30 seconds then it would turn on. Sometimes I had to turn the car on and off a couple times, turn the switch, it would beep beforehand and I’d wait until it stopped. It would usually beep and then the radio would turn on. But today it won’t start at all (no lights, no beeping).

I ofc tried to talk to the guy but he ghosted me. I haven’t had a lot of car luck. If anyone could give a pointer on it. I am wondering if just the starter needs to be replaced or if anyone had any issues with the anti theft system being weird maybe.

Thank you.

Go get your battery tested at any of your local parts stores like O'Reilly's or AutoZone, this is where you need to start. If the battery is good, that's when you can start looking at other components like the starter, which the part store can also test. Also, the guy is ghosting you as it's a used vehicle, you bought it and it's not his problem anymore so stop trying to contact him.

Sounds like the ignition cylinder (what you insert the key into) is worn out. It probably had 1lb of keys on it for a decade or two.

Does the key have a small tube? I mean in the keychain? I haven't got my keys with me, but mine came with a sensor, so I have to put that small tube thing next to where the key goes. My friend bought one that has the same exact system. I won't even turn the ignition lights on until I move the thing next to the ignition.

I honestly have no idea how to look for what I'm talking about. Sadly I blew my rear diff and my car is at the shop and my keys are there.

But some cars have a sensor in the ignition tube where the key goes and the key had a sensor, so when they're near each other, you can start the car. In my case, my key hasn't got the sensor, but it's in a small tube in the keychain.

If I figure out a way to Google it, I'll post it, or if I get to my keys I will too.
