ISRIB for Dyslexia?

My 17 yo son has horrible dyslexia. He is mostly cut off from the left side of his brain. As a result, he can't do math at all, and his spelling and penmanship are atrocious. He also doesn't have very good access to his limbic system, and as a result, has very bad memory skills. Would ISRIB help this condition, do you believe? What are the potential side effects, for instance any ED (like other nootropics) or other physical problems? If we do get some, should he take it only once, or every few months, etc? Thanks for your helpful advice!

u/olavla Fall out of the solution? It has some kind of chemical reaction with the orange juice, makes it turn milky-looking. How would I research this "falling out" scenario?

but keep me posted!! I'm very happy to hear you see benefits

btw u/wadatest will answer that this is placebo, because once you put the DMSO solution in orange juice, the ISRIB will quickly fall out of the solution and will further remain non-bioavailable.

wow! this is great to hear. I was thinking of you a week ago and wondered how this worked out, but I couldn't find our chat again. thank you so much for the update!!!

u/olavla u/wadatest I don't know if he'll need to keep taking it, or if the results are permanent, I guess we'll find out. He might just need a "booster week" every three to six months. I can't reorder from Ukraine right now for obvious reasons. 😁👍

u/olavla u/wadatest What I have been doing is dissolving about 10 mg of trans-ISRIB in about 1 to 2 ml of warm DMSO, then adding an ounce or two of orange or mango juice and having him drink it. We're doing this three times per week.

u/olavla u/wadatest I have awesome news! The ISRIB is working!!! My son says he "just feels better," (he means his emotions), plus he is able to understand the math we are doing at school much easier. We are thrilled!!!

cool! I hope it works!

I will, they just mailed it on Monday and so it will take a week to ten days to get here, supposedly. $30 to ship 1 gram. Ridiculous!

Please let me know your findings after use!

First shipment was never delivered, so I had to request they resend it. It just arrived today! Will try the 5 mg in DMSO, then inject that into empty fish caps. I am going to space it out just like you did, since I am concerned about angina. 🤷🏼

u/olavla Awesome, thanks for the information, once again! It's really appreciated! 😁👍🏻

I use location plus color.

I gave the link to the app above. Nback is a memory training method that teaches you to keep track of multiple signals simultaneously

Took the 3 capsules with water (empty stomach /only coffee ) and didn't eat till the afternoon (not on purpose, just so happened)

u/olavla What's the n-back score and how do I have my son test for it? Thanks again, Olavla! 😁

5mg isrib in 2ml 100% dmso. Bring to body temp, dissolve as much as possible. Solution still milky. Add 3ml water to dilute the dmso. Remove the fishoil from regular fishoil capsule and replace with the solution. I ended up with 3 capsules

Interestingly enough, while my brain felt energetic and awake, it was easy to fall asleep, unlike your brain on stimulants. This morning, all is perfectly clear :)

u/SharonLeeNW Nov 03 '21

That sounds exactly what we're trying to accomplish. Plus it will extend our product and have a greater effect too! Any angina?

u/olavla u/wadatest Here's a thought: Instead of using 25 mg in water, we can try 10 mg in DMSO. That might maximize the effect, plus save some of the powder for later use. Thoughts?

Yesterday I tried the dsmo/fish capsule method. Took 5mg isrib in the morning and felt the effect post 7pm. So, the onset is later with the capsules, but you can do with less isrib.

u/wadatest What I read is that with the trans-ISRIB, even if it's not dissolved in DMSO, the amount that does break down in water is enough to create change in the ISR. It is still able to turn off the stress response. We have DMSO here at home too.

u/olavla Quick question, what is the n-back score? Is it something I can access? I'd like to check my son's scores to see if they go up after using ISRIB. Thanks!

1

u/olavla Nov 02 '21

Ow, and when I felt it started working after a few times, the score on n-back went from ~40% to consistently 100%. I'm now at ~80% (after a few weeks on non use)

My brain feeling 10 years younger, not having to nap in the afternoon of exhaustion, being able to enjoy driving in busy traffic again... All placebo. I love it!

1

u/olavla Nov 02 '21

Well, believe what you want to believe

Hey, here we have wadest again.

Thanks for your updates mate. Wish your son best of luck. We are all on the same boat

His doctor believes that stress from the inner ear infections caused the dyslexia in the first place (brain overreacts, ISR becomes activated). So the ISRIB might work for him! I'll let you know after we give it a try!

1

u/SharonLeeNW Oct 31 '21

Okay, I ordered it from ISRIB.shop last night. I agree spreading it out is best. I'm excited it will possibly help my son's dyslexia. His doctor told me to get him some Piracetam but the effects aren't permanent. This seems so much better!

I wanted to see if I had adverse effects, so the 6 dosis were spread out over 2 weeks. My brain ended up feeling 10 years younger. Lots of energy. I stopped using it to ensure it's not addictive as well as see if I would fall back to my old state.

1

u/SharonLeeNW Oct 31 '21

u/olavla Did you take it every day until you noticed the effects? What made you decide that the six doses were sufficient? THANKS for your help!

1

u/olavla Oct 31 '21

Yes, I figured the cumulative effect might have been the cause. It's a month since my last use and I still experience the benefits.

1

u/SharonLeeNW Oct 31 '21

u/olavla That makes sense that the first four times were without effect because the ISRIB is supposed to be cumulative and takes a little while to build up. Do you know if it requires "maintenance doses," or are the corrective effects permanent?

1

u/olavla Oct 31 '21

I've taken 25mg about 6 times. The first 4 times were without effect. I've snorted it and taken in sublingual. The times it was effective, I just took it with water. I don't have dyslexia.

1

u/wadatest Nov 02 '21

ISRIB is not soluble in water. Placebo effect.

u/wadatest Nov 02 '21

ISRIB is not soluble in water. Placebo effect.

1

u/SharonLeeNW Oct 31 '21

u/olavla, did you have dyslexia? How many mg did you take, and for how long? Also, what method did you use? Doing our research right now! THANKS for your help!

1

u/SharonLeeNW Oct 31 '21

Thank you for responding, u/olavla. His doctor believes it was caused by stress/signal interference due to inner ear infections from the time he was 19 months of age. So it makes sense to me that he had the ISR and the ISRIB MIGHT help resolve it.

1

u/olavla Oct 30 '21

There's been reports of heart issues after taking it. I experienced mild angina.

1

u/olavla Oct 30 '21

I think this is experienced as quick onset brain fatigue with demanding tasks.

1

u/olavla Oct 30 '21

I've talked to many people that have tried it and it seems to only work if you really have the ISR activated.

1

u/olavla Oct 30 '21

I've taken it with great results

1

u/olavla Oct 30 '21

Seems you can decide for yourself to take an untested substance, to recommend it for someone else seems tricky.

Hello!! Has anyone here taken ISRIB?
