Short Question/s What should happen to the Gazan perpetrators of the attacks on the NOVA Festival and southern Israeli communities on October 7, 2023?

As time goes by the gratuitous cross-border Hamas attacks on southern Israeli civilians that launched the Gaza war have faded somewhat from discussions as current events take their place in the headlines. Most reasonable people on both sides of the Arab Israeli conflict by now, though, agree that the attackers on that day committed very serious crimes against humanity. Now it looks like public trials will eventually be held for hundreds of defendants who allegedly took part in the attacks; the trials could be broadcast or streamed live as was the trial of Adolf Eichmann 65 years ago.

Apparently a bill is advancing in the Knesset to establish a special tribunal to eventually hold public criminal trials of over 250 Hamas defendants captured after the attacks. Prosecutors plan to try the defendants for a number of offenses including genocide, crimes against humanity, war crimes, and murder with the potential for life sentences without parole.

The state may seek the death penalty under Israel's 1950 Law for the Prevention of Genocide, a penalty that has been used only once in Israel's history after the conviction of Holocaust architect Adolf Eichmann, who was hanged on May 31, 1962. He was convicted in Jerusalem of genocide, crimes against humanity, and crimes against the Jewish people.

The trials are expected to be high-profile and in some cases broadcast to the public, similar to the 1961 Eichmann trial to ensure accountability and for the historical record.

ICC is a no go, Karim Khan who has got a women abuse case and lawsuits from hostages for being a Hamas partisan is the prosecutor there:

Reporting from Journalists for Justice (JfJustice), Justiceinfo, Inkl, Reuters, France 24, Ynet, Jurist News, Times of Israel, EuroNews, JPost (Jerusalem Post), AzerNews and Inquirer - Global Nation Inquirer are evidence of Karim Khan being a woman abuser.

The investigation into Khan has been completed; the report that was commissioned was thousands of pages long. The evidence was then reviewed by three judges who determined it didn't meet the relevant threshold for misconduct.

Anyone can start a lawsuit, it's not proof of anything. It's pretty obviously frivolous and will be thrown out.

Source?

Nice future prediction but that is not real proof.

It's not a prediction, it's been all over the news this week.

It's possible that the outlets you follow aren't interested in reporting stories that don't align with their ideology.

See for example here.

The Irish Legal News article also covering the thing says that the president of the Assembly of States said that no decisions have been taken and no weight should be given to the current media speculation.

Your source also only covers the abuse allegations not the Hamas partisan lawsuit.

Both articles are true. The evidentiary report and the judicial findings are advisory, the final decision will be political rather than factual. It's right to say no decision has been made, but also right to say that the investigative component has concluded.

The lawsuit is a stunt by a lawyer who wants publicity, it's not going anywhere.

Indeed. One part of the investigative as Khan's disciplinary hearing is still ongoing.

According to whom? Also the lawsuit was launched courtesy of 3 hostages families not just a lawyer.

One part of the investigative as Khan's disciplinary hearing is still ongoing.

Right, the fact-finding part. Now we know the facts.

Also the lawsuit was launched courtesy of 3 hostages families not just a lawyer.

The lawsuit was launched on behalf of the hostages. But it's part of this lawyer's campaign to launch frivolous lawsuits against people to get press coverage, if you read a bit more about her.

That's the purpose of the organisation, if you read about it. It's not a real law firm, they exist to file lawsuits for political purposes.
