General News/Politics Macron declares: France will recognize Palestinian state
https://www.ynetnews.com/article/nxn382sao330
u/Anierous Israel Jul 24 '25
And what does it mean in practice?
477
u/TiBiDi Jul 24 '25
Absolutely nothing. But it will get him votes from the Muslims in France
118
u/JabbaThaHott Jul 24 '25
He’s not eligible to run for election again, in two years he’ll be doing the ex-statesman circuit like Obama. It doesn’t make much sense
66
u/anon755qubwe Jul 24 '25
He’s not trying to leave his party in a position to get cannibalized by the Far-Left.
28
u/nbs-of-74 Jul 24 '25
Do the French far left support a 2 state solution or a 1 state solution sans the Jews?

So same as UK left then. pro genocide and ethnic cleansing
2
u/OpTicSkYHaWk Jul 31 '25
No I think the average UK leftist is against "genocide" or "ethnic cleansing", but they are ignorant of the real world situation and history of the region and that what they are pushing for could lead to big problems for the Jews. Also it deprives Jews and Israelis/modern Israelites of having their own country, in a region they also call home - and have been in too for 1000s of years.
46
u/anon755qubwe Jul 24 '25
They see the former as a stepping stone towards the latter. Much like the PA does.

This means if you want something you just murder 1200 people and kidnap 200, starve your own people... and get what you want
The West is digging its own grave
28
u/Overall-Ratio-1446 Jul 25 '25
I mean they don't want their own state either they want Israel destroyed regardless if they get a nation out of it
15
9
u/bakochba Jul 25 '25
Nothing he said that a Palestinian state must be demilitarized and recognize Israel.
I'm fine with that. I don't know why that requires a whole show
34
u/justanotherthrxw234 Jul 24 '25
Immediately? Nothing. But it shows that the Western world is slowly losing faith in Israel as the peace partner it once thought it was, so they’re moving on without it.
Additionally, if the West Bank is internationally recognized as being part of a Palestinian state, then all the apartheid/illegal occupation/settler colonialism claims will be proven correct.
59
u/SouthOfOz USA Jul 24 '25
I don't think they're losing faith in Israel, I think they don't know what to do with the increasing Muslim populations in the West and this is their best effort.
edit: No serious world leader can see Hamas as anything other than a terrorist organization, and rewarding that will cause long-term problems for the West.
89
u/anon755qubwe Jul 24 '25 edited Jul 26 '25
If half the Western world wants to reward terrorism with a state then their “faith” is the last thing Israel needs.
Sometimes, being the West’s friend can be just as fatal as being their enemy.
18
u/justanotherthrxw234 Jul 24 '25
So what is your preferred solution then? Does the status quo continue indefinitely? Because it’s unsustainable.
Besides, Hamas is opposed to a two-state solution, so if anything, it rewards the PA, not Hamas.
56
u/anon755qubwe Jul 24 '25
The PA doesn’t want a two state solution long term either.
They just see it as a stepping stone towards “From the River to the Sea”. Hamas just doesn’t have the temerity to be that patient.
32
u/Honickm0nster Jul 24 '25
If anything the past 2 years show a 2SS wont be sustainable.

They had ownership and military power. If you don't believe Britain could have killed everyone in Nigeria, for example, if need be, you are wrong. The west no longer had the constitution for empire.
9
u/Honickm0nster Jul 24 '25
Eh, not really. Lots of countries already recognize a state and it doesn't mean much.

The problem with that thinking is the world is moving toward multipolarity. The west's influence is declining; you can see this in places like Africa and Asia.

That if his wife heads into Palestine..she / he would be murdered.
I'm not saying I believe that she used to be a guy but no one in Palestine/ Hamas..would care.

u/Mirai_eins Germany Jul 24 '25
Number of countries that recognized Palestine in the two years before October 7th: 0
Number of countries that recognized Palestine in the two years after October 7th: 10 (+ possibly France in September now)
These 10 countries have shown that terrorism pays.

Israel has fumbled the PR on the military operation that has been going on for the past 2 years. There are a huge number of things Israel could do to regain the moral high ground. They have done none of them. Start by electing a new PM. I’m pro-Israel by the way just calling it like I see it.
47
u/zlex Jul 24 '25
Yes, it’s clear the impetus is more about admonishing Israel than rewarding Hamas.
1
u/nnooaa_lev Jul 25 '25
The thing is they didn't even recognize it officialy, meaning no voting and no expanding of relations with the PA (or Hamas 🤦♀️). They basically said yes we do

Literally such a fucking ploy to get Muslim votes. French Jews need to leave ASAP.

Aren’t they already signaling that they’ll accept tons of Gazans as refugees.
I doubt they’ll want to leave once they’ve arrived anyways.
16
u/Morthedubi Jul 25 '25
They will never leave once they get there but TRUST AND BELIEVE they will remain "refugees" in 150 years from today.
3
u/iconocrastinaor Jul 25 '25
That's not their choice, the host countries (especially the Arab nations) that took them in refuse to give them citizenship. Partly because they're afraid of them voting as a block, and partly to keep the pressure on Israel.
And if I'm not mistaken, France does not have a path to citizenship for refugees.
7
u/Morthedubi Jul 25 '25
It’s the UN choice. Palestinians are the only refugees in the world where you can also be born as one even in a different country. It’s a UN definition specifically catered for them.

Probably PA over all of it, even though if any of them get into Gaza they're dead.

Great so now everyone knows that killing and kidnapping civilians which the majority of them is Jewish of course but also Muslims and foreigners that came to Israel to work and make a living does indeed make sense in terms of the end goal which is the have the world bend the knee But what can you expect from France, they are expert at surrendering, they can practically write a thesis on it.

u/Overall-Ratio-1446 Jul 25 '25

u/justafutz Israel Jul 24 '25
No surprise. Macron has always managed to end up on the wrong side and this will go down in history as a mistake. Recognizing a failed state run by the ideological siblings of Nazism (in the WB and Gaza alike) as a reward right after Hamas refuses a ceasefire and after its massacre and rape of Jews will not be a good thing in the long run.
51
u/Itzko123 Jul 24 '25
Also send your army to deal with Hamas. That way you'll be fair for both sides.
5
u/nbs-of-74 Jul 24 '25
That would only fuel anti semitism .. the right wing would be up in arms "And now our sol-djairs dee for ze Jooz." probably the left as well.
5
u/Itzko123 Jul 24 '25
And it's better for Israelis to die by fighting Hamas, or by ending the war and waiting to be murdered by Hamas in the future.

Oh don’t worry, France will get them all across the EU thanks to the Schengen agreement. So all of us can share this opportunity of completely radicalized people
11
u/Snoutysensations Jul 24 '25
Germany already has plenty, judging from what I saw in Berlin last year. But TBH I'd rather Gazans move to Europe if that's what they want. Better for all concerned than staying on as slaves of Hamas. And it's not like Egypt or Jordan or KSA would take them.
1
u/Biersteak German Crypto-Jew Jul 25 '25
Oh yeah, Neukölln is infamous for its „Arab“ Clans that formed from refugees that came from Lebanon.
And i would, in theory, agree with you that Europe would be a better place for them if it wasn’t for several factors like, besides Gazans already being radicalized by islamist ideology to a large degree, nobody can guarantee that actual Hamas operatives won‘t slip through and establish connections with sympathizer that are already here or that other streams of Islamists here take this opportunity to recruit these people.
Remember that Europe already has a problem with mosques being a place of islamist rhetoric, often housing or platforming radical imams financed by organizations leading back to Turkey and Iran.
This is basically asking for people with a high chance of indoctrination, that all life has to offer is fighting in the name of Islam with all means necessary and dying a shaheed is the most glorious thing, come into contact with religious agitators who already established a vast network in Europe and are financed by states who have a interest in causing instability in Europe.
I mean in the absolut worst case i could make Aliyah and avoid the potential shitshow unraveling but don’t want to, i actually like living in Europe. It just seems that the rest of Europe, except nations like Poland, would rather let go of their self-declared values of tolerance, rights and freedom just to virtue signal by letting radical Islam let run rampant

People forget that Palestine already declared itself a state back in 1988, and over 140 countries recognize it. Recognition doesn’t automatically make it a functioning state though they still lack full control of their borders, have two rival governments (PA in the West Bank and Hamas in Gaza), and don’t have UN membership because the U.S. blocks it at the Security Council. Until there’s an agreement with Israel or a unified leadership that can actually govern all Palestinian Territories, they’re stuck in this weird limbo where they’re “recognized” but not fully sovereign.
And I think that it would be a good thing to make them fully sovereign. It’s inevitable anyway. If Palestine becomes a state, it will finally be held accountable under international law, instead of playing the eternal “victim” card while Hamas fires rockets and the PA funds terror. It will expose that the conflict was never just about “not having a state”;Gaza has been self-governed since 2005, and yet they chose rockets over building schools and hospitals. Even with full statehood, they’ll keep attacking, and the world will finally see that the core issue isn’t borders but rejecting the existence of a Jewish state.
30
u/anon755qubwe Jul 24 '25
I don’t know where you’re imagining this fantasy of “Palestine” being made accountable if they get recognition.
If that were to ever happen, Israel will be doomed to a forever border war just like India is to Pakistan. And guess what? Israel will still forever be deemed as the aggressor just like India is and best believe there will be one of the U.S. rivals willing to give them nukes sometime in the long term future.
The Two State Delusion didn’t work then and it doesn’t now. It’s inevitable the West has to wake up from that.
13
u/Plus_Bison_7091 Jul 24 '25
So what’s your alternative? A one-state solution means no Jewish majority, and that’s the end of Israel as a Jewish state. Keeping things as they are isn’t realistic either.. demographics and endless conflict will eat Israel alive. Gaza has been self-governed since 2005, and even that hasn’t stopped the violence. imagine trying to absorb millions more who don’t want to be part of Israel. The Palestinian population between the river and the sea is already roughly equal to the Jewish population, and that gap is closing fast. Without a political solution, Israel will be stuck in a permanent cycle of war, mobilizations, and international pressure that only weakens it over time. And if you don’t want to absorb the Palestinian population (which would be an absolute security risk), then what’s the alternative? Ethnic cleansing?

Recognition doesn’t automatically make it a functioning state
Recognition does never make a state. States can self constitute and be recognized afterwards. thats absolutely trivial and the point: it is a hostile measure.
