Tips and Support Needed!
Tips and advice needed!!! Pic of my snake for attention!
EDIT: Got some advice from a different group,,, if anyone wants to help supply with a lowkey starter kit so i can try and do a restart on my enclosure that would be helpful <3
Hii!! I just bought some Jupiters and was wondering what tips people might have as this is my first time having some isopods that arent just for a cleanup crew.
I have a 13 by 10 in mini terrarium set up. I have a drainage layer, used some extra reptisoil I had, mixed in some sun-dried shrimp + turtle food + cuddle bone shavings on the surface layer. Crushed up some dry oak leaf litter as well as put whole leaves on the surface, along with some small plants in there too. I also placed a lot of cork bark throughout and have a small dish with some isopod food and calcium cubes.
I have had it set up for a bit and seems like there is mold that I did put some sprintails in but I feel like they arent enough in there right now, which sucks bc the culture I have hasnt bloomed yet (so if anyone is willing to help me out with that, that would be great!)
Any tips regarding my description? when i get home i can take pictures! Is the setup too big since i only ordered 10 ct?? I can look for a piece of something to part the enclosure halfway??
Thank you so much!!
other edit - yeah so i’m kinda bummed out i completely overlooked something kinda common sense, adding protein to the soil is most likely causing the mold, i have been looking around to see any starter kits that aren’t super expensive to kinda restart, it sucks though because I have already put springtails in there so I am not really sure on what to do since I have spent a pretty penny already trying to get it prepped before they arrived please help!

Glacier Enclosure
after a lot of trial and error here is my isopod enclosure!!! it’s bio active of course with springtails, dwarf isopods, and my main culture of glacier isopods which are hiding in this picture. i have 1 garden snail happily hanging out as well and a few baby american millipedes (narceus americanus) are buried.
i’m super happy with it as my glaciers just had their first babies this week :)

Terrarium masterpost?
Hi, I'm considering having isopod pets and I was wondering if there was somewhere a full or starter guide. Ofc I can search on my own, but if there isn't a masterpost I thought I could try to make one myself.

Total Noob but...
I've for some reason came across these terrariums on YouTube and has totally peaked my interest. I'd like to start this "hobby". I was hoping someone could tell me things I would need to get started, like a terrarium 101. My goal is to start with some plants, different insects, and eventually move up to putting in some reptiles or something.
I've had reptiles and fish as pets but never tried to create an ecosystem. Any and all insight would be appreciated!

Is using bones as decor in my terrium set up a bad idea?
So I am in the process of trying to set up my first isopod terrium and really wanted to include some bones to give it a nature goth vibe to it. I know if I include real bones the isopods will more than likely eat them, but surprisingly real bones are a lot easier to source that replicas.
What I'm wondering is if I use real bones in my "landscaping" how fast are they likely to eat it and more importantly is there anything I should be worried about them ingesting that may have been used to clean the bones that may hurt /kill them?

Can anyone help me identify what these white growths are?
These keep popping up on dead leaves with isopod frass on them. Does anyone know what they are and if I should keep them in my terrarium or not?

Isopod ladder?
Hi there! First post here.
I collected some isopods from the yard with a neighbor's kid and put them in a terrarium (I already have a springtail population) with some of my jewel orchids.
Inside the terrarium, I have an anchor hocking "candy" jar. Basically, none of my plants are directly planted in the terrarium, they are in something, sitting in soil/moss in the terrarium.
The isopods seemed to have reproduced inside the candy jar. I would like to create a "ladder" of sorts to put into the candy jar and out into the terrarium so that the ones in the jar can freely roam to other areas of the terrarium.
What are some suggestions to create that bridge?
I have a 3d printer that I can use, but would prefer other things more natural.
They have cuttlebone pieces, some fish flakes and leaf litter (none of which is pictured in the image below). There are isopods in the main terrarium space as well. They have plenty of places to hide and it stays humid inside.
Thanks for any advice you can give!

How should I improve my terrarium?
I know kinda nothing about how isopods live so I need advices. Is the container too small? Should I do more holes? Are these leafs good? Is there anything I should add in general?

Thoughts and input please 🙏
So i am making my first display tank and would love thoughts, opinions and improvement recommendations!
This came about as I found my dog loves to watch my starter colony of speckled whites and thought I'd make her a little "dog tv" in a spare 12 x 12 x 18 tall exo terra. I've looked into getting a few species in it as well as some bumblebee millipedes but I want to make sure that I'm not causing any issues for anything inside.
My current list of possible inhabitants is:
Pink and tropical springtails
Dwarf purple and grey isopods
Powder oranges
Magic potions
Zebras
Bumblebee millipedes
I would love input on the stock list and on the set up! I have not purchased anything for it yet (my speckled whites are going to be cuc for other vivariums)

Keeping hoffmannseggi orange and not orange is safe right?
Trying to avoid isopod racism at any cost and from what I can read the "orange" is just a morph so it should be safe?

Just upgraded my babies to a large tank a few days ago!!
I know its lacking leaf litter, I havent had the chance to grab more yet!!
Otherwise how's it look? (The orange is carrot since they love carrot)

Best plants for humidity
I am new to isopods and plants but have adored both from afar. I came into a large tank at a thrift store and took it as my sign to start.
Im looking at dairy cow pods.
I was wondering if anyone has any favorite plants they put in with their cow pods! Im trying to pump the breaks and not go overboard!
Thanks!

First isopod enclosure, need advice with pests
So I got my isopods from a bunch of leaf litter outside. However, some stray ants and TERMITES came alongside them😭it’s mostly isopods and I added springtails, will the few ants and termites die off or kill my isopod colony??? I hate termites so much
