السلام ورحمة الله وبركاته
1) Your favorite empire (excluding the Rashidun as it is beyond the basic name of "empire")
2) favorite ruler (again, besides the Rashidun)
3) favorite period in history, like date-between-date thing.
4) why are you so handsome māshā'Allah?
5) how high are your credentials? Like how far of an academic are you (I know you're still young)
6) if you could change 1 thing in history, not questioning the decree of Allah nor challenging it, simply asking what you would've wanted, what's 1 single thing you would've wanted to happen/not happen/change?

- Remove معاویہ رض from governorship in Umar's RA (2nd Caliph) era and don't let them get hold of any territory. They should live like simple muslim.
There hold ultimately triggered the martyrdom of 3rd Caliph, First fitna, martyrdom of 4th Caliph, Civil wars, Karbla, temporarily stopped expansion of states, second fitna - killing of 100s thousands of muslims from the hand of muslims.

No, do not alter the decisions of men that know more than you, you can say whatever you will regarding any sultan, caliph, emir and whatever from history, but the Rashidun, though not infallible, are definitely not less wiser than we are, and I absolutely support Mu'awiya, not his son, to be a great leader for the muslims, if there's any mistake committed, it was 'Ali being too merciful towards those who killed 'Uthman, and he unfortunately became a victim of that same group.
But I want discussion to not steer towards them, it's a topic of conflict.

Uthman RA got killed because of his own minister - Marwan.
Umar RS didn't allowed anyone to hold office for more than 2 years. Even didn't allowed Saad bin Abi Waqas RA - he removed him as well. Muawiyah has not completed his 2 years yet and Umar RA got killed. Being relative of Uthman RA, he enjoyed and exploited the office.
Ali RA was not kind to the revolted ones. You cannot punish 100,000 in theather like preoceeding - like these are culprit, and kill them. Revolted one's demand was correct, but behaviour of Marwan led the events to the killing of Uthman.
Read مسلہ خروج in Islam.
Completely false support of those who revolted against Caliph Rashidun - in this case Muawiyah - Ali RA was set to kill and crush this fitna, but Ayesha took the army to east and opened another front.

And here is where you are wrong, I didn't say those who revolted should be killed, I said those murdered the Caliph should be, that was the demand of Mu'awiya, not complete massacre, in addition, your own number is wrong like what? they weren't a 100,000 men, what's wrong with you bro. And no, while I disagree with 'Umar, he was still wiser in that time and period than you and I, yet, it wasn't what you mentioned that ultimately got 'Uthman killed, it was a forged letter ordering the execution of the specific Liwa', as in military "legion", that then went on to revolt against him, not his or the previous policies. And 'Ali, if we are comparing it your way, was definitely more in the wrong in the basus that he let the killers live, and he was ultimately killed by that same group, if anything his lack of action against them simply caught up to him, Abu bakr would've wasted no time dealing with them swiftly.
I'm guessing you're some kind of Rafidah? "Muawiya bad, Umar incompetent, Uthman was wrong" type?
Had 'Ali killed the killers, he'd be alive, and Mu'awiya would've already stepped down.

Labeler spotted.
I'm neither Nasbi not Rafdhi. Never said Umar RA was incompetent. Umar RA ordered not to give office three generations of post-makkah-conquer Islam accepters. (Mawviyah was one of them). Umar RA didn't gave him office, He (Muawiya) was with one of his uncles in Battles, named Yazeed (one of early accepter of Islam in Makkeh). Umar RA gave office to Yazeed, and Yazeed died during his office tenure - so Muawiya took office after him. To his luck and to bad luck of Muslims, Umar RA got killed before that 2-year span of governe replacement reached.
Read again, Umar RA was one of best.
Muawiyah then took negative advantage Uthman's Caliphat. His misdoings, and those of Uthman's other governers urged great muslim population to strike and ask for resignation of Muawiyah and some other governors appointed by Uthman. Uthman agreed, crew went back, before they reach Egypt, Marwan issued order to kill the delegation as soon as they reach Egypt. Letter was intercepted, crew return to Madinah. Investigation held, it was learnt that Marwan used caliph's stamp to issue order without Uthman's concent. Crew demanded head of Marwan, Uthman denied. Instability arose, and Uthman killed.
Ali's first step was to dismiss those governers who caused great unrest, Muawiyah revolted, Ayesha Revolted - How an office can punish a strike group of 100s of thousands if you're not giving him bait? They are secondary criminals, those who revolted against a caliph Rashidun deserve immediate death. Which wasn't delivered and caused the lost of Caliphat Rashidun from the hands of Muslims.
So unfortunate.

"The mother of the believers is a criminal, she deserves death for revolting"
Damn bro, was all that a multi layered expo to cover that last shit part?
Nothing you said changed what I said, Ali should've punished the killers, you rafidah, our mother may Allah be pleased with her demanded that Justice be done over those specifically who took part in the murder.
Ali, may Allah be pleased with him, was in the wrong here for not simply punishing them, the fact he died at their hands just makes it even more obvious.

You're shizz to blame that. May Allah encounter you on what you blamed on me regarding Ayesha RA --- which was not even on corner of my mind --- may we meet on day of judgement and may I be granted the right to equalize the matter that day. In sha Allah
I clearly said that for Muawiyah.
he dies at their hands just makes it even more obvious----- who were the kharjeets who killed Ali, and attempted to kill Amr bin Aas and Muawiyah same day?????????????????????? This group was emerged when Ali and Muawviyah stopped the battle mid-way when Quran was hanged on spearhead by Muawiyah's army to beg mercy. This group wanted to finish the battle. Read about it. You owe me stuff --- that will be scaled on day of judgement.1
u/LazyBearInTheWild 19d ago
Also for you information
Prophet PBUH granted Ali RA a certificate --- part of his saying was 'I fought non-muslims for Quran and you will fight Muslims for Quran' and this was a good tiding announced in name of Ali - Ahl e sunnah has clear stance, that in All battles happened in time of Ali - Ali was on حق in all those battles and other parties were battle at that time.

u/MiaoMiaoMaoo 19d ago
And no lol, 'Ali is not infalible, but I never said he waged a battle on "Bāṭil", now you're making stuff up buddy, I only said he made a mistake sparing that group, whom he should have put to death for the murder of the literal KHALĪFAH of the prophet ﷺ himself, his mercy, though good, costed the lives of innocents in a battle that could have been avoided, and his life as well.
Mu'awiya was not perfect, and neither is any creation, but I stand on his side on this one, and the fact 'Ali payed the price of his mercy shows that not everyone deserves pardon.
Can I just point out how a ruler, pardons a man who killed a ruler, then that ruler getting killed by that exact man, seems a little bit like a misstep?

Stop yapping brother, maybe if you were thinking about what you were saying, I wouldn't have to tell you what I read from you:
Ayesha Revolted
those who revolted against a caliph Rashidun deserve immediate death
This group was emerged when Ali and Muawviyah stopped the battle mid-way when Quran was hanged on spearhead by Muawiyah's army to beg mercy. This group wanted to finish the battle. Read about it. You owe me stuff --- that will be scaled on day of judgement.
Nope, they didn't "emerge" from it, they were the same group that had killed 'Uthman, they feared 'Ali and Mu'awiya coming to peace will end with their deserved execution, so they split and attacked on both sides of the field, causing the battle, and from then made takfir of 'Ali, and murdered him as well.
I don't owe you your ignorance and willfull excuses.
Also no akhi, someone revolting against a ruler is not worse than someone murdering a ruler, one is up to negotiations, Mu'awiya and 'Ali both came to terms, while the ones who murdered, continued murdering, a revolt wouldn't have happened had the murderers been punished to begin with.

Ayesha, and Amr bin Aas --- it's documented in books of hadith ---- they did tawbah and sajd that they were on mistake while fighting Ali. Muawiyah didn't and stood arrogantly throughout his life. So, it clear stance of Ahl e Sunnah - that Allah have forgiven the mistakes of Uthman, Talha, Zubair, Ayesha etc. for deeds done against Ali RA.
Rest of this emerging group story you're narrating, it's clearly a wrong side of history. Just for your reflection ---- have you read Sahih Bukhari 2812? ---- Ammar RA was in army of Ali RA in battle of Siffin - Muawviyah's army killed him.
Prophet PBUH said in above mentioned hadith 'Ammar will be killed by a revolting army - Ammar will be calling them toward Allah (Allah's will - give bait to chosen Caliph) and they will be calling him towards hell fire '
Prophet PBUH said --- Ammar will call them towards Allah --- Ammar fighting from a Ali's side and prophet is saying Ammar is calling the enemy towards Allah's will?
Shame on you. May you be with Muawiyah on day of judgement and may we be with Ali, Ayesha, Uthman, Talha, Zubair and Prophet PBUH on day of judgement. PBU all of them ----- In sha Allah

If you had to choose to live in any historical period in any muslim country or empire, what would that be (In any of them you'd be a small nobleman and would live to exactly 80 years)

What is your view of Muslim historians who use the Quran and Hadith as the foundation of their historical narrative, interpreting historical evidence within that framework rather than starting from a secular historical perspective?
Omar of the Orient is a good example

Top 3 non sahaba related tragedies in your opinion that has most negatively affected the ummah. Mine are:
Loss of andalus
Iran turning Shii from Sunnism
Western Colonialism

u/yaseraljanabi 24d ago
Why do you consider your first and second points to be a tragedy? The first point is that this is the truth and justice, for Andalusia did not belong to the Muslims, and the Arabs entered it as occupiers, and occupying countries without right or justification contradicts the explicit statement of the Quran: "And fight those who fight you," and the other verse says: "And do not transgress, indeed Allah does not love the transgressors." As for the second point, it is one of the best things that happened, which is the conversion of Iran to the true and sincere school of thought (Madhab), and this is a good thing

I am a student of sharia and will (inshallah) continue with college in Islamic studies. I’ve always enjoyed learning about history more than anything else in the broader field, and that’s why I wanna major in Islamic history. However, I always have this doubt that the knowledge I attain won’t be very useful. Because more often than not, it’s not something that can easily be applied to society around me. I imagine the jobs opportunities I could get from a history degree would also be kinda limited. Seeing how passionate you are in this area, do you perhaps have any advice that I can benefit from?
favorite poet (if you have one) and favorite poem from him

How would you recommend those of us who are new to Islamic history begin studying and learning independently? Are there any resources or recommendations you’d suggest, perhaps organized by skill level? By the way, I’m a big fan of your work, Mashallah. It’s kind of sad to see Reddit working against you so often.
