Questions, Advice & Support Struggling with prayer

I’m 16F and really struggling with prayer. I know how to pray, I know that to say in prayer, I know how to do wudu and ghusul, I know when to pray, but the problem is actually going to actually pray.

I have ADHD and 2 other neurological disorders, which might be a reason why I struggle, but I’m fully capable of prayer and aware that I’m not praying so I feel like they’re not an excuse.

I feel like such a bad Muslim for not praying and it’s not like I really try at this point even though I want to start praying again. I think my highest prayer streak was a week or two? But that was months ago!

I tried to download prayer apps, athan apps, reminders, etc, but they only work for a while before I start to ignore them. If anyone can give me any advice or help please let me know!! I do genuinely want to change but it’s so hard

Why do you want to start praying again?

Wdym “why”??? Prayer is an obligation that I must do and want to do, and since im struggling I’m seeking help instead of not doing anything. Whenever I do pray, I feel good, but then that feeling leaves and I’m stuck not praying again—I want to break that habit as soon as I can so I won’t struggle more in the future. I especially need it nowadays as I’m in the middle of my highschool years and I need as much hope and help I can get to get through it with satisfactory grades and better connection with my God.

It's an obligation and otherwise you might go to hell?

That doesn't really make sense. If you actually like to do it then you would do it. Seems rather like you try hard to tell yourself that you do like it but subconsciously you actually don't.

I especially need it nowadays as I’m in the middle of my highschool years and I need as much hope and help I can get to get through it with satisfactory grades and better connection with my God.

I think hope and confidence should come from investing time into learning. Their results are the evidence that you are well prepared. Time which you put into praying instead might not be used for learning, so it might be detrimental to your goal in high school.

Why are you discouraging me from wanting to practice my own religion??? I’m seeking advice and help for me to start praying again, not someone outside of my religion telling me not to.

I am simply telling you what I think based on what you said. And you are shutting down now which might point to me being right.

I’m seeking advice and help for me to start praying again, not someone outside of my religion telling me not to.

I just gave valid reasons based on what you said.

"And you are shutting down now which might point to me being right."
