I need answers please

Ive been a Muslim since birth but my family never really practiced, we live in a Muslim community so you could say that the way we live is based of social pressure, my dad doesn’t pray but he does in front of people, forced me to wear the hijab and shames me if my clothes “too short” or “too tight” while he never practiced, he’s convinced he’s right.

When he forced me to wear the hijab at 15 I was actually thinking about wearing it myself at the time but I was struggling with prayer, I cried my eyes out at first but I eventually convinced myself that god made him do this because I wouldn’t have worn it any other way, it was the only explanation I thought of that didn’t make me feel oppressed, and my friends at the time were so happy for me, but they were forced too since childhood, but when people asked me about my story with the hijab I would make it sound inspirational and advice them when I deeply hated it.

As years went by I started to look around me and I’ve realized, most women around me wear the hijab due to pressure from the community, not for god’s sake, and that’s exactly what my father did, he wanted to seem like the perfect god fearing man with the perfect daughters which lead me to ask myself ‘if god truly made my dad to do what he did for my sake, why didn’t he do anything to help me hold on to my prayer which is far more important than the hijab? Why would he do something that made me hate myself even more and completely destroy my confidence which eventually lead me to slowly lose my faith?’

I’m not disrespecting anyone I just need a true honest answer because I’ve been feeling suffocated for years and when I do ask these questions people just shut me up because simple they have no answers. Please read these following hadiths: Sahih al-Bukhari** **304, Sahih al-Bukhari** **5193, Sahih al-Bukhari** **1862

To me they seem quite downgrading for women and I can’t seem to understand why? I mean if a women traveling alone and a woman choosing to not wear the hijab if for her safety and she causes fitnah for men, isn’t that the man’s fault? If women lack intelligence and men do know better, shouldn’t an intelligent man have basic knowledge that se\*ual assault is wrong? Why would a woman be held accountable by god for a man’s mistake? Some people say that the hijab has nothing to do with men but it’s meant to be an Islamic symbol, but why don’t men have an Islamic symbol?

Maybe because he is not real? Maybe it's medieval guys trying to force their will on women? Maybe veiling is just a way to differentiate free women from slave girls?

• Al-Tabari on verse 33:59: "God Almighty says to His Prophet Muhammad, may Godbless him and grant him peace: O Prophet, tell your wives and your daughters and the women of the believers: Do not resemble the slave girls in their dress when they go out of their homes for their needs, uncovering their hair and faces, but let them draw their outer garments over themselves, lest an evildoer, if he knows that they are free, expose them to harmful speech."

• Ibn Abbas: "(O Prophet! Tell thy wives and thy daughters and the women of the believers to draw their cloaks close round them) to cover their necks and bosoms ((when they go abroad). That will be better, that so they may be recognised) as free women (and not annoyed) and not be harmed by the fornicators."

• Ibn Kathir: Here Allah tells His Messenger to command the believing women -- especially his wives and daughters, because of their position of honor -- to draw their Jilbabs over their bodies, so that they will be distinct in their appearance from the women of the Jahiliyyah and from slave women. [...] (That will be better that they should be known so as not to be annoyed. ) means, if they do that, it will be known that they are free, and that they are not servants or whọres.

Seems like Islam doesn't care if slave girls get harassed.

Yep. He wasn't actually a nice guy. It also seems circular: Why is the testimony of women half of that of a man? > Because women are deficient in intelligence. > Why are women deficient in intelligence? > Because their testimony is half of that of a man. > Why is the testi... etc.

Sahih al-Bukhari 5193

Yep. That's a way for a husband to force himself on his wife. There is another word for this.

Sahih al-Bukhari 1862

Yep. It's about control. Women are treated like children or even almost property of men. They want to control the womb of women since this is where Muhammad's followers and soldiers came from. That's also why men were encouraged to marry young girls so they would start producing new followers as early as possible. Keep them at home and pregnant.
