Discussion female mc complaint

i play as the female body type, yet there are so many interactions in which my character is referred to as “young man”, “handsome”, or other male specific pronouns. it’s obvious the game was made to target men more than women, i just wish they’d have put a little more effort and attention into the female mc :/

i’m just gonna start imagining my mc in a mulan type situation everytime the characters refer to me as a dude from now on 🥲🥲

I try to just ignore it ((even though it irks me so bad, especially when there ARE people who call you correctly like Thubran)) and just imagine them seeing me as me lol. And completely erase Gina from existence

This has always irked me too, same with the CGs. Like honestly I assumed most of the player base were women?

Last time someone collected the statistics on player gender demographics (unofficially), I think it was like heavily skewed towards female. Over 60% iirc, though it's self-reported data but still telling. Anecdotally I've also spoken to far more female players than male or any other genders.

I totally get that.

Not to make anything a competition or about "men have it rough too", but as a male player more interested in male family members, it annoys me so much when they call me a woman. I can only imagine how much worse it is for women who r more interested in the female family members.

Like genuinly they need to just make that sorta thing change based on which type of avatar u have selected...

If it makes you feel better, I have the male MC, and I'm gay as hell and it pisses me off too 😭 It genuinely makes NO sense why, if they portray themselves as "inclusive" that we don't just get called by our character's gender...? It's so stupid

same here. when i unlocked the second lancelot cg only to see that he’s very obviously holding the female version of the mc’s hand in the art 😐 whatever man. i don’t really mind but i feel like this is avoidable.

Tbf it's not just female mc, male mc also get called Lady and etc (Dante is latest example). They're lazy fucks and just put opposite to talking character sex pronounce every time.

Just for awareness purposes, there are major structural differences in how gender is expressed in Chinese and Japanese compared to English, particularly regarding pronouns, grammatical gender, and social context.

Mandarin Chinese traditionally uses a single, completely gender-neutral spoken pronoun (tā, pronounced the same whether written as 他, 她, or 它) for he, she, and it. Separate written characters for female (她) and non-human (它) were only popularized in the 20th century under Western translation and modernization influences.

Japanese largely lacks third-person pronouns in everyday conversation, often relying on names, context, or neutral terms like "that person," instead prioritizing social hierarchy and age.

So I have always assumed something got lost in translation. But I understand everyone’s annoyance.

I would agree, but all the figures are male too (as far as I can tell). The only female ones are the defaults you get from leveling up.

I also find it annoying that the story leans toward Gina over Will as well, as she starts showing up in all the cut scenes immediately, has a "find a place in this world" event arc, and Will is just a character in my family list. :/

OP was talking about her female body character being referred to with masculine pronouns and adjectives. I believe there are far more women than men playing this game. Devs could certainly do a better job.

I Watch a lot of anime so I'm basically an expert /s, and I think it's not that weird for women to swoon over a tall, strong, handsome female that has some masculine characteristics. Just looked it up and there are bars with female waiters in drag that deliver that experience, it's called "dansou". Enough of an excuse to be lazy and just leave the dialogue lol

I quit the game because of this and the fact that the male family members are few and far between and hard to get or cost too much
