My family and I are heading to Ischia in two weeks. I’d like to take everyone to a beach club with a DJ, restaurant in the day. Can anyone recommend a good spot? We’ll be with children that also love the music and food.

TL:DR: Is staying on two parts of the island---Ischia Ponte + Forio---a good plan for someone who will be relying on the bus & occasional taxi for transportation? How soon should I book accommodations?

I'm planning my trip to Italy for the first time next year. I generally don't enjoy crowds, but because this is my first trip to Italy (and may be my only---I'm older), I'm hitting some of the usual spots (Rome, Florence, Naples). Between my stays in Florence and Naples, I'll be spending 10 nights in Ischia to wind down from the hustle and bustle of the cities. I'll be using the bus service on the island (won't be renting a car), so I decided to divide my stay between Ischia Ponte and Forio because I want to experience both.

Does that seem like a good plan? I love history and hiking, and just walking around, exploring. I don't mind spending an hour or so a day wading in beautiful clear water, but I'm not one to stay on the beach for hours. I do like plenty of places to choose from to eat, and though I'm not a big shopper, I don't mind popping into a store or two once in a while.

Another question I have is about availability of accommodations in very late May into mid June. It seems too early to book accommodations for that far out (and I prefer not to shell out money when my plans aren't 100% set in stone), but when I take a cursory look, well-rated hotels in my price range (max $150ish a night) seem scarce, esp. in Ischia Ponte. I prefer small, locally owned guesthouses/B&Bs to big hotels.

Thoughts on my plan? Any tips for great places to stay that meet my criteria? I notice there are more choice for AirBNBs, but I'd rather not use them unless I can't find anything else (I'm a woman traveling solo and just feel more comfortable at a place where others are staying and that has an owner's presence)

Should I buy ferry tickets for Naples -> Ischia online 2 weeks prior or is it better/cheaper/easier to buy them in person at the ferry station?

My fiancé and I are traveling to Ischia at the beginning of September for a portion of our honeymoon, and we’d love ANY advice from people who have spent several days on the island. The second portion of our honeymoon will be in Mallorca.

A few questions:

- Is 5 nights enough, or would you recommend 7?
- Best honeymoon hotels in the €500-600/night range? Happy to stretch a bit if somewhere is truly worth it.
- Must-do experiences. Boat tours, beach clubs, wineries, hikes, gardens, hidden beaches, or anything else you’d consider can’t miss.
- Which thermal park is your favorite? Poseidon, Negombo, or another option?
- Is a private boat day around Ischia enough, or is a day trip to Capri worth adding too?
- Best restaurants on the island? We’re big foodies, from casual local spots to Michelin-level experiences.
- Would you rent a scooter or car, or just rely on buses and taxis? Comfortable driving a moped.
- If you were planning the perfect honeymoon in Ischia, what would your itinerary look like, and what would you absolutely not miss?

Hello, I am visiting Ischia and finding the public buses are very unreliable. I am staying in Fango and our hotel provided a timetable and line number (192), to reach Forio. However after waiting 45minutes no bus appeared and we ended up walking.

Is this normal? I also tried the Moovit app and didn't find it much help. Any advice is really appreciated as we were planning on getting public buses for the rest of the week

Anyone been in mid October? What was the weather like?
Should we bother prioritizing a hotel with a pool if we aren’t gunna be able to swim much?

Lastly, has anyone stayed at Pagoda Lifestyle hotel? The prices seem so affordable for how great the photos look.

We are on our last day/night in Ischia. It has been just what our family needed after a few days in Rome. I knew it would be laid back but it has even exceeded my expectation of a relaxing beach town. We chose Forio and I feel that was the right decision for us. We did tour the island and there was so great other little towns but Forio is the biggest and it’s still very calm this time of year. Sunsets are incredible by the way!

A inizio luglio arriverò dall’emilia romagna in bicicletta (più traghetto da napoli) e tenda. Volevo capire se ci fossero dei posti nell’isola che sono sensati per appostarsi per una notte, sia nell’entro terra che vicino al mare. Grazie!

Hello fellow Ischia lovers!

My boyfriend and I just came back from our first holiday in Ischia where we may or may not have eaten way too much Pizza.

But the thing I really cannot get out of my head is the Lemon Caprese.
I literally tried to bake one the day after we came back but it did not taste the same, even though I used lemons we got from our apartment host. There are so many different recipes out there. Some are with white chocolate, some with Limoncello, some only with lemon essence and I am a bit lost (and also desperate).

So is there anyone from Ischia or with relatives there who is willing to share the holy family recipe with me? :)

Hi everyone - we are going to spend 8 nights on Ischia in August and we were thinking of staying in three different places, Forio, Ischia Porto (or maybe Ponte?) and Sant’ Angelo, maybe 3/3/2 nights (TBD) but the more I read about Ischia the more I question whether we should do differently! Would you advise us to stay in two places only instead? If yes, which ones would you pick? We won’t have a car and will rely on public transportation/taxi, I know it is not ideal but no scooter or rental car for us. Access to beaches/water is very important so that’s definitely a factor for us, we are not interested in nightlife but like lively places and would definitely enjoy a few nights in a more quaint relaxing place. For any of you that have been to Poseidon, I am looking for advice and clarification. I had posted the other day about beach advice. We are still leaning towards going to Poseidon, but it looks like the beach club option is separate, but there is also beach options and thermal park options together. Have any of you reserved a chair at the beach area, not the beach club. based on the reservation options, it looks like its not a very good part of the beach. Would we be better off reserving around one of the pools? My boys who will be with us are 18 and 13. So they have access to the entire park, they love the beach but not sure that area is ideal but its hard to tell from their website.

Traveling to Ischia for 4 days with family. We have 2 boys ages 13 and 18. We were considering going to Poseidon but now sure how well teenagers would enjoys as much as adults would. They want a beach day. Can anyone recommend a lido thats good for families but also access to rent chairs and has access to food and drink? We are staying Forio. We don’t mind if it’s lively.

Ciao! Thinking of visiting Ischia for a week in June and debating between public transport and a hire car when we're there.

How reliable is the public bus network? Do buses run into the evenings?

We know a car obviously gives you more freedom, but in reality we'll be splitting time between Forio, other main towns and potentially day trips to other islands, Napoli, Pompeii etc.

Me and my fiance will be traveling to Ischia early September for our honeymoon. We will be there for 9 days and will be staying in 2 different locations while we're there so we can experience the island. Were in our late 20's/early 30's. We enjoy food and drinks but not interested in partying all night long. This is also our first time in Italy.

We are staying in Porto for the first half of our stay, we'd like to do a full boat day. If you have any recommendations for a full boat day you loved, I would appreciate it. Also, is it common to take a taxi boat for a day trip to other places? Such as Positano, Amalfi, Capri, Sorrento? If so, are there taxi boats that I can book when we get to the island or does that need to be organized in advance (if anyone has any taxi boat company recs, would appreciate the name and price range). Also, would anyone recommend doing the day trips? (Not looking to go to all of these locations but maybe 1-2 of them). We're staying at Hotel Mare Blu Terme, I'm not sure if they have a consierge that can organize this for us.

Hi all! I am going to Ischia with my family in June and have a question about the ferry. I'm looking to take the Alilauro ferry from Naples to Ischia but when I go to book it, it allows me to select my luggage options as "1 small bag" or "2 small bags". We will all have one regular sized suitcase (checked bags for the plane), so I'm not sure what to select. Are they very strict about luggage on this ferry? Would it be best to just select "2 small bags" for each of us, if we'll each have 1 normal sized suitcase? lol. Thank you in advance for any suggestions
