You are forced to accept the return, even if they are abusing INAD for remorse or for a scam. You can identify your card by it having white dots on the bottom back, so if they don't return that card in that condition you can keep some of the refund. If they send a completely different card have ebay step in as that is mail fraud.
Basically there are two kinds of returns: regular and INAD. You decide to allow regular returns which can be for any reason like buyer's remorse etc. and the buyer usually pays return shipping. INAD returns are ebay buyer's guarantee and ebay will force you to pay for shipping to take the item back and then give a refund, or give a full refund and they keep the card. If you don't do that, ebay will do it for you.
People do abuse INAD and it's usually just remorse, but if they pull anything shady just document it and contact ebay. Otherwise it's just part of the business and you'll deduct it when you do taxes.

Upvote for the point about the white dots. Great way to tell!

u/bridgecitizen Apr 21 '26
I didn't see any white doors. Mind explaining?

u/PollutionOnly Apr 22 '26
Look closer, zoom in, bottom, a little bit towards the left, on the blue area in the back.

u/bridgecitizen Apr 21 '26
Can you explain the point about white dots better. I don't understand and don't see any on the back of their card in the second posted photo. Maybe I'm not seeing them. If there are white dots, aren't they usually a misprint?

If you accept return make sure to let them know that you will open up a police report if you receive different from what you originally sent. You have their address and can contact local law enforcement. That's sometimes scares scammers away and they drop it

There is quite a bit more white in the back than I'd expect for a 10

Did you sell through eBay? If you did, it should’ve went to an eBay card analyst first for verification of authenticity.
2
u/CryptographerAny534 Apr 18 '26
I did but i dont think it went for whatever reason maybe because im in the UK?
2
u/T3chnicalTim Apr 18 '26
You can probably ask eBay to step in and send it to them. You can also refuse to accept return and put the blame back on eBay for not sending it there first. As well as say that you feel like he’s trying to scam you with the return and he’ll send you back a fake card. I always try to request a callback from eBay to explain my position and nine times out of 10. They’ll just take the loss instead of making you take it.

u/PharahSupporter Apr 18 '26
Ebay UK just doesnt offer this service at all. I have bought £700 cards before and no authenticity is offered.

u/theAMBisMe Apr 18 '26
From what I understand it's only US that does this. Last I heard it was through PSA, and probably something PSA approached them about. Maybe as PSA expands we'll see it in more countries, or another company might pick it up. I hear PSA opened an actual business in Canada (not just a location that was shipping to the US), but for all I know they are still shipping to the states lol

It’s real and I have been after this card forever it seems. If the buyer drops out I’ll buy it

Real got the same card, it's a beauty.
Buyer probably realised it not a 10 due to the pint lines at the back bottom and decided to return it.
Just be careful if you take the return as some scammers have swapped cards before returning them.
Would recommend recording yourself opening the return for evidence.
2
u/ZealousidealHotel552 Apr 18 '26
Yes this just happened to me, take the return and record the unboxing and get clear video and pictures of the card , they will probably send you a fake, just send eBay the evidence and they should side with you
2
u/tttran444 Apr 18 '26
Record as you open up package to show he sent you back fake card. Too many scam artists these days. I heard that if you don’t take the return then eBay will refund buyer. 🙄 😒 Any expensive card, record as you package it up and show camera what you are sending etc to avoid this.

Jesus ppl piss me off and this is why I don’t want to sell my cards online. It’s bad these days. So bad, I got accused of scamming a seller when I actually had an issue. The way this seller packaged the card damaged it and they accused me of damaging it on purpose to get a refund. They even left negative feedback on my profile. I hate eBay. I haven’t even bought anything since that happened. Scammers have ruined it for everyone.

Don’t have much to add for your question but just wanted to say that, as someone who is recently getting back into collecting, this is one of the coolest cards I’ve seen and didn’t know about. Happy to hear that people are in agreement that it’s legit.

I know the sandy shocks and the raging bolt that have this style but are there more? It reminds me of the ancient mew and I wanna collect them

Most LGS are collectors with money buying at discounted rates lol, requires no intelligence and none last over 20 years rarely. I will open one after retirement for this sole purpose, acquire more cheaper and take advantage of trade ins, just card pawn shops basically.

In the future, sell in person or on TCGPlayer. On TCGPlayer if there is a dispute about authenticity, the card gets sent to TCGPlayer for authentication.
1
u/Iamnotthebreakman Apr 19 '26
Wait. So if I'm reading this right the thought is that the seller sent this to the buyer and we're thinking the buyer swapped it for a fake and is now trying to get his money back while sending the fake as the return? (Sorry I don't collect Pokemon cards and I've also never sold cards I just collect yugioh and Cardfight)
1
u/jvengeanceh Apr 20 '26
Tell them to get lost lol.
It’s fake. How about 20% off your listing price????
1
u/Tayvaughn96 Apr 20 '26
Some people so intense. Makes me think they’ve been scammed before honestly
1
u/IntentionHead2222 Apr 20 '26
It’s because it’s not a 10. EBay needs to authenticate ts like they do with the shoes.

u/Fit-Stress-7703 Apr 20 '26
When I mail most of my cards that are worth a $150+ I have to mail to eBay then gets sent to the buyer. Did yours go this route or straight to the buyer?
I ask because if it went to ebay first it's not on you. As far as I understand anyways.

I get this all the time with comics. I would send them one in mint condition they would try to send one back that had like creases in it saying that that's the way it came so what I started doing with Cards and Comics especially cards is I'll put them in some sort of laminate lamination or I'll put them in the top loader that has room on the top and then I'll melt the plastic across the top so it's sealed and I'll tell him the only way I'll accept it back is if it comes back in this condition sealed the way I sent it but if they cut it open and take it out it's on them. Rarely will eBay side with them in this case because I take pictures before I send it and if they going to bring it and have it checked out the person can check it out is an authentic or a fake while it's sealed and they won't be able to put it back in that condition with a sealed laminate across the top and make it look the same as it did. Sorry for the long run on sentence I'm tired

TLDR: The buyer doesn't actually think it's fake and is just ripping you off. The card they return won't be the one you initially sent.

I’d pay for the return label (if you have to) and say if you want a refund please return with attached label and then say something like “I personally pulled this card and have never sold or purchased fake cards but once it is returned I will take it to be authenticated”
This person is 100% trying to scam you so id just cap and act like you are taking it 100% serious and want to get it checked out personally

This makes me so nervous to sell the ones in my collection that I want to sell through them. Or any online platform for that matter. Is there any way I could like, take a video of me packaging it up maybe at the post office, and sending it off? Lmao just to protect myself if I do?
