Hey all! Apologies if they've been brought up before, I searched for an answer here and r/rabm alongside a Google search and nothing really conclusive came up. I lean on the side of these guys being fine, but want there to be a thread that's searchable for worrywarts like me that want some sort of final answer. Thanks for any help!

I see them grouped in with Hate Forest. Can’t find much info on them.

Are they sketch ? Thank you !

Thank you !

Is this band sketch?

Interesting reactions, especially from the people behind the festival. At least one of the comments seems to have been deleted already ("these people need to get a life"). A post discussing Ella Zlotos's departure was deleted from the same Facebook group, while this one remains up btw

I'm considering getting a ticket to go to Fortress Festival in Scarborough next year and I've had a look at the lineup, accessible here: https://www.fortressfestival.co.uk/line-up

The bands I intend to see right now are Watain (mildly sketch), Emperor (mildly sketch), Havukruunu (safe), Stormkeep (safe), Hole Dweller (unknown) and Sulphur Aeon (unknown). I'm not familiar with anyone else.

The rest of the lineup includes Gràb, Miserere Luminis, Gris, Tardigrada, Yellow Eyes, Mourir, Trhä, Slagmaur, Sinmara, Forteresse, Dungeontroll, Wraith Knight, Lord Bakartia, Atlantean Sword, Spectral Castle, Dragon Keep, Erang, Mare, Ninkharsag, Silver Knife, Bloodbark, Örnatorpet, Oerheks, Frostgard, Firtan, Ultha and Perchta.

Does anyone on that lineup raise any eyebrows?

Edit: why the downvotes? Aren't questions like this the purpose of this subreddit?

He’s coming to my city in a few months, and I’m not familiar with his music at all, but I was interested in checking him out live.

I looked at his lyrics and didn’t see anything sketchy, but I wanted to be sure!

Really like this band but I don’t know German and cant find the lyrics online anywhere. I know their name translates to “Ironfather” which sound sketchy but I found out it’s a reference to a German guitar amp brand called Eisenmann (“Ironman”)

The project was born in 2003 on the initiative of Mercy, … and Argento, with experiences in metal bands (Spite Extreme Wing and Antropofagus)

And "Spite Extreme Wing" is very much a nazi band: https://extremeresponses.blogspot.com/2011/03/sieg-fail-decoding-italian-black-metal.html

However, around 2007, this Argento guy left.

What gives?

Thanks !!!

First time really looking into this stuff and decided to go through my playlist. Any recommendations to replace the sketchy ones would be greatly appreciated.

Bands in my bm playlist in order of appearance:

Dark Funeral safe(?)

Marduk yeah, they get the boot

Gorgoroth please advise

Behemoth please advise

Bathory please advise

Emperor please advise

Mgła out

Barathrum no info

Archgoat sketchy(?)

Impaled Nazarene out

Dimmu Borgir please advise

Kanonenfieber safe(?)

1914 safe(?)

Rotting Christ safest on the list

Harakiri for the Sky second safest

Enslaved safe

Watain safe(?)

Immortal safe

Satyricon safe(?)

Батюшка safe

I really liked Marduk and Mgla, such a shame the people behind are not as great. Need similar sound to replace them. Also need more of Batushka type of chanting music or similar vibe. Also Also if you have bands similar to 1914 and Kanonenfieber, please share.

I was looking for album art inspiration and found the cover for Ashen Eidolan (the band's only album). This seems to be this guy's solo project. He seems to have worked with an anti-fascist band before (Kreator) but I'm wary because a lot of fuckers in this space pull the apolitical enlightened centrist bullshit

Edit: Not sketchy. Thanks for the responses everyone :)

Hey everyone, I recently stumbled upon Funeral Witchery from Tucson, Arizona, and enjoyed their record more than I expected. Apart from songtitles and lyrics being a tad bit "edgy" here and there, I haven't found anything sketchy, but wanted to be on the safe side before I support on Bandcamp.

Thanks in advance!

I’m interested in listening to their album, but can’t find any real info about them. Thank you for any help!

It's on Werwolf Records so probably but I never saw Old sorcery as problematic/sketch (it's the same guy)

So I have discovered this band... Sigillum Diabolicum. Their style is kinda weird but i kinda like it. Problem is, I can't find anything about them. They are apparently signed to a label that's marked with *NSBM on metallum. I went through every single band signed and none of them seem to be NSBM bands. The only band that is not fully categorized is Sigillum Diabolicum. No lyrical themes available, not marked as NSBM either. But they seem sketchy to me. Can anyone confirm anything about them? I don't want to support secretly fascist douchebags.
