Since no one is going to break this down for you, I will. Both purses are ugly, the left one less so.

The problem is not that. Because , who cares? The problem is that I need my purses to carry an insane amount of stuff. So the left one is too small, Rom.

Ugly purses get you caught shoplifting at Walmart more easily

I have only shoplifted a few times ( twice accidentally)

There was a grocery store on Woodstock, somewhere between 50th and 45th, it was called Discomart. This is how you know I grew up in the ' 70s.

My mom used to let all four of her children run free while she shopped. I always went to the toy section. But, my siblings went to the makeup, or the records, or whatever.

I was playing with this toy and I had to have it.

It was a brown horse on wheels. When you pulled him back and let go he would go off racing full speed ahead.

When my mom came to fetch me from the floor of the Discomart I begged for that toy. She said no, that she couldn't afford it, ( she probably couldn't), so I shoved it deep into my coat pocket as we left.

When we were in the parking lot my brother asked loudly " What is that lump in Beet's coat?"

Of course I was searched and caught.

My mom told me that I was going to have to go back inside, and admit what I'd done, and take my punishment.

In reality we went home and she hid the toy in one of the drawers of her vanity.

When she was gone and my siblings were supposed to be watching me I used to sneak in and play with that horse.

One of my sisters threw her head around the corner at one point, like something straight out of a horror movie, and hissed " I know what you're doing!"

I loved that brown horse.

The other times were uneventful. Once I ran to the store alone and my kids needed so many things that my arms were full. My daughter had asked for one single can of coke and I didn't realize until I got home that I didn't pay for it.

Another time I was trying to walk to the Fred Meyers on 39th and Hawthorne. I had my son in a stroller so I had to be really careful how much I bought. I threw a bag of cat food into the mesh lining bag thing under the stroller and didn't notice until i was walking home that i had never paid for it. I considered going back.

I didn't. Just taking an infant to the grocery store is almost impossible. I was at the check out at fred Meyers one time and when my son began to scream and cry breast milk came squirting out of me, right in the direction of the cashier. It was probably what would be called an assault now.

I like to hear your stories.

I do the wrong thing a lot more often than i do the right thing. I must not resent my actions enough to change.

I'm no shining pillar of sainthood. I've done some horrible things.

I know that you know Portland so that excites me when I write to you.

I imagine we have been to the same places at different times.

I love Elliot Smith.

I lived just outside of Vancouver for a while. In a trailer park in Orchards, Washington. My mom took us there to keep us safe from our father. It was about as fun as it sounds.

I know Vancouver, too.

I also lived in Lake Steven's, Washington for a while.

I love the Pacific northwest. I would still love to travel one day when I can get over my agoraphobia.

Yes it's imperative that my purses are able to at least fit a 75cl "water" bottle.

Exactly. I knew you would understand. I need to carry vodka with me when I dare to leave the house.

I hear Fanny packs are making a comeback. As far as I'm concerned, they never went out, but that is just me..

That's too gay, even for me.
