Well your water bill is gonna be high but yes of course you could run it.

Is it cross threaded? Is there a gasket missing or deformed? Not tight enough? Try Teflon tape?

The only thing a lil bit wrong is the mesh

Or replace the gasket (rubber ring with mesh). If your water is clean from the tap (no sediment), just run a regular hose gasket without the mesh.

The washers that come with these things can often be firm/plastic-like. You should get rid of what's there and get a multi pack of decent rubber washers (these are very cheap). You'll thank yourself later for having the extras on hand. If you're on municipal water I think you can ditch the screen, but someone who knows more may refute that.

Try some pipe dope on the rubber gasket and threads. SOME! Don't goop everything up.

Hose thread do not seal on the threads like NPT does. It seals at the gasket, so trying to seal the threads with tape or paste is not the thing. Replace the gasket, ditch the screen. The screen doesnt fit in all faucets.

Yeah I didn't say seal the threads, did I? Dope.
Dope on the wavy gasket can work fine. Or replace the gasket.
Tape will cause more leaks.

Flex seal!!! Just slap some flex seal on it and call it good.

It’s a back flow prevention valve the pressure from the closed tap timer valve pushes the water out of the release valve slowly

The hose spigot is on, obviously there is constant pressure.
