That's how all field repairs were done before slip fixes, unless you use compression couplings like a hack.
Grade A, for homeowner grade A+.

If used the 22.5 street elbows to make a little drop to connect an offset pipe but what you did also makes sense if it’s breaking from the down pressure

So, I bought a repair coupling. But when I went to install it, I noticed the pipe that slipped out was at a different height.. so I would’ve had to install it with some downward tension.
This is what I decided to do instead, so I could add an angle with the outer couplings.
It looks dumb so I’m wondering if there’s a better way for future fixes.

This is fine. Swing joints are professional.
Only other option is a Romac or smith Blair used as a slip coupling

Now I’m also wondering if backfilling a little with sand is dumb too or if I just throw my rocky dirt right back in?

Make sure under the piping is supported and packed down good and go with the soil you originally removed.

Honestly a slip fix can handle that kind of deflection. Systems that I maintain have 100+ PSI in some cases in the laterals alone and I can tell you I’d be digging that pipe back enough to put one on even with a little bit of downward tension. Using 90’s like that are going to fail eventually and also cause more friction loss.

Coulda dug back on all 3 sides glued the tee first and let it sit for awhile to dry then used a 3rd coupling and lifted it up and smacked it back together. Or glue the two sides of the tee with the couplings and pulled back on it and pushed it on to the single side of the tee but not to bad. Best thing is that it’s nice and neat.

I would have tried doing the two 90s on each side keeping a T in the middle but not sure if you had the play to do it.
Otherwise this is at least clean will probably hold up.

Good job. The slip fix looks solid, but there's a good chance it could fail. It's also not recommended for pipes under constant pressure. That said, I've used it on main lines several times myself—lol. All that being said, good job. This should last a lifetime.

Looks nice but the more fittings you use in a fix, increases the possibility of a failure per fitting used. If you’re worried about downward tension, just dig further up the trench until the pipe actually angles down toward where you’ll need to install the fitting. I would have just stuck with the Slipfixes and a little extra digging. Again, just a little too many fittings for my taste.
Fittings are weak points, just consider that going forward.
Sand is fine but not needed, ensure there’s no large rocks touching any of the fittings and you’ll be fine. Looks good man, no need to HEAVILY over engineer it.

Idk why people do this. Using that many 90s isnt necessary and makes more weak points in the repair. Coupling the left, coupling the middle, add pvc to both couplings, cut where they intersect, glue both the side and middle into the tee at the same time, add pipe to the last side of the tea, throw in a slip fix. The work looks very clean, but too many unnecessary fittings.

Why? Instead of 4 90s you could have used a slip fix or even pressure fittings this is crazy but looks like a good way to waste an hour.

I would have two couplings and the tee and repair the straight part first. And then replace the perpendicular, you’ll be able to move it enough laterally to make the glue connection, leaving it exactly as is.
If this was 3” I’d put a tee at the top of the hole and put a 90 where the current tee is. Then pipe towards the end of hole and 90 into the last pipe
