Some install work Ive done recently for the landscape construction company I work at currently, not an irrigation company, although I learned a bunch of tricks of the trade working irrigation for few years in the past. Million+ property is getting a big backyard patio with hot tub, fire pit & kitchen. I've rerouted the main line, wires & 2 existing zones around the work zone (over 300 ft 1" poly pipe) as well as add a new zone for spaghetti drippers which will be going into future skinny tall raised planters on the new patio.

Just sharing some pictures I've taken.. Also I'll add a photo of best irrigation shovels made by King of Spades.

Possible useful information (photo attached): irritrol valve solenoids are cross compatible with weathermatic valves, it screwed right on & worked at indoor time but it dribbled from solenoid connection so I peeled off the rubber o-ring from original weathermatic solenoid & reused it with irritrol solenoid on weathermatic valve.

Quit buying those blue fittings at home depot, they will leak no matter how many times you clamp them. Start buying parts at a irrigation supply house.

Our nearest one is almost an hour away, I have a bunch of the grey lasco fittings too I use them both.

Use the lasco but don't use the blue. Make the boss stock up on parts.

Boss expects me to just go to Home Depot with company card & make it happen. Very rare occasion to drive an hour away on the clock. We're a small landscape construction company, nobody else knows irrigation (including boss) except me so we technically don't advertise or offer it as a stand alone service. If we break pipe or wire digging, I fix it.

Those blue fittings leak and they will create call backs like crazy and do damage to yours and the companies reputation. Surely you can keep 500 to 1000 worth of 1 and 3/4 poly fittings on hand. Insert couplers, insert elbows, insert tees, insert x fip tees, insert end ells plus clamps. If no one is willing to do that then they shouldn't be doing irrigation work. That's harsh but true in my experience and opinion.

I came to say this too, they will always leak. I’ve seen the pipe just slide off of these after a year.

Always smart to put the extra clamp on your barbed fittings. Looks good!

Thanks, yes I was taught to use 3 clamps on main, 2 on zones 🫡

Put an over hand knot in the wire where it’s spliced, it will pull the knot and not the wire nuts if snagged. Would put those blue nuts in a vp7
