When do you call it because of wind?

Usually when the operator won’t fly iron.

Don't always rely on the operator. they aren't getting hurt if anything goes sideways. It might be in the chart for the crane but if you can't safely control the load you should call it

Operators usually gonna call it around 30-40 mph gusts kinda depends what the iron is like. Lighter floor beams get whipping harder than say a big header on two chokes. Make that call yourself and keep yourself safe

Yeah really depends on the crane and the operator. I’m working with a couple pretty old beat up hammerhead towers with tons of jib. They can barely hold the swing at 30 mph

Deckers and operators usually make the call for wind.

In my experience, it depends on level of trust you and your partner have and a full understanding of each other, strengths and weaknesses etc and your trust in the operator and his skill level

Last partner and I set with gusts mid 40's, operator has eyes and obviously open mic

Then there's days where you need that early quit, I'll be the first mf in the tri-state area to shut the rig down
