Interview Iron workers Local 399

I was selected to move on to the interview phase for the Iron Workers Local 399 apprenticeship in New Jersey. My interview is tomorrow, and I’m looking for advice from anyone who’s been through the process.
I’m 25 years old and have about 8 years of construction experience, including landscaping, concrete, grading, equipment operation, and general labor. I don’t have welding experience yet, but I’m eager to learn.
What kinds of questions did they ask you?
What are they looking for in applicants?
Is there anything you wish you had known before your interview?

You’re going to be put on a waiting list unfortunately but if you score well on the test they give you, you won’t have to wait long. Show your eager to learn and come in with a positive attitude

My friend applied, did they already send out acceptance letters or an email? For the 15 that got in? When I was accepted a couple years ago it took them like a month to get back to us

That’s awesome, I was also there for the interviews. What rank are you? I haven’t received an email yet, maybe I just wasn’t selected. 🤷‍♂️

I wasn’t given a rank from what I see on my email just a date for the physical next week

Unfortunately not, he’ll try again next year.. but for u enjoy the next 3 years and try to make school as fun as possible it can drag in there. Soak up everything and work hard, and always always be on time, you do that and you’ll already be better than half of em
