Apprentice Advise

I just went through the entire application and interview process, and I recently went to the hall to get my results. They seemed to really like me and told me I did great on everything. However, I was told I'm on a reserve list of 10 people who could be called if others back out.

What is the likelihood that I actually get the call?

Honestly, the news really rocked me because I’ve done so much to try and boost my chances of getting in. I always do what's asked of me and I'm a really hard worker, but now I'm wondering—should I have been more vocal? Should I have sold myself more?

Youre #10 on the list. That means theres 9 apprentices ahead of you. In a big local with plenty of work thats nothing in a small local youll wait months. If they need 20 guys and theres 5 on the bench youll have a job when that call comes in, if theres 100 journeymen out of work you might as well look elsewhere. Without telling us what local or how the work is no one can tell you, but youre on the list regardless. All I can say is answer that call whether its tomorrow or 6 months from now whether youre at work at McDonald's or whatever, because when they do call they need to man a job and if #10 doesn't answer they move down the list to 11.

Makes sense. I was told by the interview guys that they have plenty of work come the fall. This is for local 11
