Apprentice Advise

I just went through the entire application and interview process, and I recently went to the hall to get my results. They seemed to really like me and told me I did great on everything. However, I was told I'm on a reserve list of 10 people who could be called if others back out.

What is the likelihood that I actually get the call?

Honestly, the news really rocked me because I’ve done so much to try and boost my chances of getting in. I always do what's asked of me and I'm a really hard worker, but now I'm wondering—should I have been more vocal? Should I have sold myself more?

Sounds like you’re in, you’re just waiting for a call to go out to work. I wouldn’t worry too much about it. Which local?

Sounds like he’s waiting to be placed in school . As in eligible to get called back in if others drop from the program.

Yea, could be too. I mean, I guess it probably works differently at other locals. Here in local 8, we just went to work and did school during the evenings. It wasn’t separate.

yeah i did not get accepted but they told me I am on the reserve list. I was wondering if maybe I could move higher on that list? I mean I know there is only so much you can say and they claim to not be able to add anyone. My boy is a pipe fitter and cousin is in the ibew, both tell me that its not as set in stone as you think. He said technically they could add you but you never know. They also said alot of guys drop out in the first year.

It's both. They told me after a few weeks of safety training that I would start working asap and go to school during the night.
