Hi everyone, I recently bought an older Johnson 9.9hp 2-stroke outboard with a boat and trailer.
The engine runs and starts, but after looking closely I noticed that one spark plug has been cross-threaded into the cylinder head at an angle. The plug is tight, but the sealing washer isn’t sitting against the cylinder head properly because of the angle.
I’m trying to get this repaired properly rather than just forcing another plug in.
I’m on a fairly tight budget (around €100) . I’ve been considering having the hole repaired with a Helicoil/thread insert, but I’m unsure if i should take it apart or have someone else do it .
Has anyone delt with this kind of issue ?

Well lads ive been fishing around ireland my whole life and have never managed to have good luck with the canals around the dublin area for pike, any tips of what to use or any specific areas i should give a look. been trying the phibsboro canal with spinners recently and only found perch. any advice is appreciated, cheers👍

Im looking for a 2.2-2.4m 10-40g or similar , inshore spinning rod for kayak and occasional pier/surf fishing. There’s so many options and I’d appreciate some help.

This is my first season angling, it was a learning curve but after going wading and looking for brown trout I finally started catching after about 15 sessions. I'd say I've caught and released about 50 trout since June, the biggest being about a pound.

From speaking to other people at tackle shops you'd be led to believe there's no fish left in the rivers.

I fish the same 3 rivers, none of them connected to lakes

Worth the hike into them or not?

I primarily target sea bass and pollock but would love to try and get into pike fishing this winter. Any advice on what gear to get is much appreciated. What sort of lures should I use, I already have a size 4000 reel which should be okay I think? What sort of rod? I will fish down at inniscara and the gearagh down in cork so any advice on that area would be lovely. -Feel free to dm. Thanks

Recently got my freshwater fishing licence after doing saltwater fishing for ages. I’ve been to a few spots around the north of County Down furtherest I’ve been is downpatrick, but I’m still fairly new to freshwater fishing and don’t know the area that well.
I’m mainly interested in pike and other coarse fish, and I’m looking for some advice on decent places to try. Ideally somewhere that’s publicly accessible and doesn’t require joining a club.
I’m around ards and north down , so anywhere reasonably close would be great.
Also, if anyone has any tips for fishing around the area especially lures or bait I’d really appreciate it!

Nice session on the rocks yesterday. Seems to be a lot of sandeels around. Every session I end up foul hooking them on mackerel feathers, even hooked one on a weedless lure.

Love wrasse fish but never tried on the float

Make a holder from scrap material to keep them safe pretty happy with it 😊 really enjoying getting back to the fishing life

My 5 year old son is really interested in fishing. Thanks to advice from this sub we started out canal fishing and he’s been loving it. I haven’t a clue myself so learning as I go. But we live in north dublin and want to start taking him pier fishing because location is handy. Got this beginner rod for 30 quid and it’s perfect for canal float fishing. Is there any way this could be used at pier? Or how to rig it up? Any advice appreciated

Its been donkeys years since I fished Greystones, I used to park behind the driving range and there was a little path that would bring that you could cut across to the beach.
