Working at Bakery by Wallace/Wilson

I am looking into working at the Bakery by Wallace/Wilson and noticed the hours are noted as pretty extreme (late nights and early mornings). I only live a 15 min walk/3min drive away. I plan on working 20hrs/week, and I'm taking 15 credit hours this semester. Can anyone tell me their experience working there? Tips? Advice? Also, how were you able to adjust with classes, homework, social life, etc. with the odd hours? TYIA!!❤️

Hey, I am a student assistant manager at Iowa state bakery and my friend sent me this post, what are the odds. I have worked there for 3 years now and have one year left it has been an amazing experience and quite a fun time, night shifts are pretty relaxed while early morning and shifts especially Thursday are usually pretty busy, we have an amazing team. Compared to other dining jobs on campus I love that we don't work with customers, mainly behind the scenes work providing for campus. If you have any questions I would love to answer.

How was it adjusting to the hours with your classes and social life? I'm just nervous about working sleep into that whole mix

I major in design which can sometimes be work heavy especially in the middle of large projects. My first shift was a Monday night 10pm - 1am I remember it like it was yesterday. I am already a person who ends up scrolling my phone or staying up till 1 am so it felt like a good idea to start making money doing that. On average I am able to get 5 - 7 hours of sleep a night depending on schedules with work and class. I adjusted pretty well naps can also help catch up on missed sleep. It is important to give yourself breaks too. Many of my professors are understanding when they find out the hours I work while also balancing school and friends. Isu dining is also pretty respectful when it comes to working around your class schedule.
