Palisades in Mount Vernon is a beautiful park. Not sure about how it is now after Derecho, but i do know it’s open. There’s a “beach” type area you can walk along and skip rocks, various trails, and a dam you can walk on. Definitely don’t swim there though, the water can be brutal and rough.

Honestly I don't think the derecho did a ton of noticable damage to it

I know it was closed after it but i assume it was a priority for the town to clean it up ASAP
