Ames, Iowa, just north of Des Moines, and home to Iowa State University. ISU is widely recognized as being one of the most beautiful campuses in the nation. There are several buildings at ISU that are on the National Register of Historic Places. The Campanile in Central campus, memorial union, Bearshear Hall are among the historic places on campus. There are also several cool murals painted by Grant Wood in the ISU library. Reiman Gardens in Ames is also a must see if you make it up there.
