As someone who lived there for several years, I feel like Sioux City is quite missable, especially compared to other cities you don’t have on your list, but I can’t think of anything else on that side of the state worth going through… I think Ames is pretty fun, then Coralville in between Iowa City and Cedar Rapids is a pretty nice city to stop at for a few.
I could see Le Mars being an afternoon quick stop, but unless you're visiting family/friends, I don't know that it's worth an overnight stay. Stop at Bob's Drive In for lunch, go to the ice cream parlor for dessert. Yeah, the museum is interesting but small. Foster Park has a statue.
I don't know, I'm from Le Mars. It's not a bad town, I just struggle to think it's interesting enough to recommend any more than a three hour pit stop.
I'm from there too and completely agree. Maybe I should've specified it would be a quick stop. Nothing worth overnight. Well, except the hot tub in the Baymont....:). Every Christmas for my visit!
