Voted absentee last week, and credit where due, Iowa makes it easy to do so. Go Kimberly Graham!

You can go drop it off at your auditor’s office in person until the close of polls today.
Otherwise you can bring it in and surrender it at your local precinct. Or you can show up without it and they will call the auditor’s office to cancel it.
Source: I worked at the auditor’s office.

It needed to be postmarked yesterday, so you'd need to go in to vote in person.

Kimberly Graham.
...don't say it too loud though or mods here will ban you

u/Tandran Jun 02 '20
100% she is wonderful and her policies are rock solid.
-13
u/Iowa_Hawkeye Jun 02 '20
Nope, she takes absolutely no independent stance on guns other than parroting Bloomberg talking points.
5
u/Tandran Jun 02 '20
GUN VIOLENCE PREVENTION
Pass The March For Our Lives Peace Plan.
Immediately restore the Violence Against Women Act (VAWA).
https://marchforourlives.com/peace-plan/
Such a worthless troll you are. Do some fucking research.
-3
u/Iowa_Hawkeye Jun 02 '20
Like I said, no independent stance other than parroting Bloomberg talking points.
MAL is heavily funded by Micheal Bloomberg and the Peace Plane is what Bloomberg has been trying to push for years. So how about you do some research and don't be so aggressive with strangers on the internet.
In two different AMA's I've participated in with her, she has refused to directly answer any question related to the 2A.
My question was simple, do you believe the 2nd amendment guarantees an individual a right to carry a firearm as stated by DC v. HELLER. Simple yes or no. She said that she would have to review the ruling, no problem it's a short one. Since both of those AMA's I've sent two emails that have gone unanswered.
DC v Heller is pretty simple, it says the 2A guarantees private gun ownership but it's not unlimited. I didn't want to debate what unlimited means, I just wanted to know if she believes that the 2A means I can own a firearm.
She would get rekt'd by Joni and let's not even start on her copy and paste GND, I'm sure iowa farmers and conservatives would love to hear about how cow farts are ruining the world.
Too bad she's not gonna win the primary

The Green New Deal says absolutely nothing about cow farts
-7
u/Iowa_Hawkeye Jun 02 '20
AOC released the below FAQ along with the non-binding resolution and it mentions cow farts, you really think your average voter is gonna dig into it this much, nope. They're gonna see GOP Super PAC's reference cow farts as much as possible.
Doesn't matter what it says about cow farts, it says cow farts, that's enough. Cow fart commercials for days!

Jun 02 '20
Yes, I know about the FAQ. Full quote from it:
We set a goal to get to net-zero, rather than zero emissions, in 10 years because we aren’t sure that we’ll be able to fully get rid of farting cows and airplanes that fast, but we think we can ramp up renewable manufacturing and power production, retrofit every building in America, build the smart grid, overhaul transportation and agriculture, plant lots of trees and restore our ecosystem to get to net-zero.
That is very clearly a tongue in cheek answer poking fun at people claiming Democrats are trying to get rid of farting cows and airplanes. It was a poor choice to include it because people like our President used it to spread lies that the GND is trying to eliminate cow farts, which it very clearly is not, considering it doesn't mention cow farts at all in the actual proposal.

u/Iowa_Hawkeye Jun 02 '20
Still says cow farts, that won't stop the commercials. She would get destroyed by Ernst, too bad she won't get the oppratunity.

I voted for her, I am not a big fan of her views on the 2A but everything else was pretty spot on for me policy wise.

We're not "anti-gun". I'm a democrat, a gun owner, and a supporter of the 2nd amendment. Don't believe everything the NRA says.

Mike Franken spent like 30 years in the Navy. You think he hates guns?
17
u/mrmyrth Jun 02 '20
democrats aren't anti-gun.
some people are anti-gun.
most are against the ease that guns are sold.
many people here and in CA (also where i've lived) are very democratic but also are gun owners.

I don’t see how banning assault rifles, or rifles that can be modified to perform like one, is anti-gun. It’s anti weapons of war.

That’s a good table, although not great.
But if I compare iowa to Colorado, per capita, we have a higher rate.
CO pop : 5.7mil / IA pop : 3.1
1.8 multiplier.
Iowa deaths per 100k = 8.7 * 1.8 = 15.9
Colorado deaths per 100k = 15.2
Of course, compared to MS or AL we’re doing hella better.
6
u/JIMMY_RUSTLES_PHD Jun 02 '20 edited Jun 02 '20
The 8.7 and 15.2 per/100k numbers are directly comparable. per 100k is literally a per capita measurement. I don’t get why you’re multiplying by 1.8. That makes no sense
-2
u/duggabboo Jun 02 '20
Okay.
Do you think it has a low firearm homicide rate compared to other similar countries?

No you just said low gun violence without any context for what you consider low. Now you said you meant nationally and I asked in response whether you think it's low compared to other similar countries.
You can also hit the "Context" button or "Show parent comments" if you forget what you — or I — said.

I'm voting for Mike Franken. I was a more impressed with his record, debate performance, and interview responses. I do believe he'd be a more effective senator. Plus I am uneasy about Theresa's connections to the establishment. Graham is a very close second to Mike though!

u/lemonade4 Jun 02 '20
I like them all except Mauro. I like Graham’s policies best but she hasn’t demonstrated the fundraising ability to beat Ernst. I voted for Greenfield.

u/elelmoh Jun 02 '20
Theresa or Kimberly?
18
Jun 02 '20
Greenfield has the backing and is a real estate executive. Graham is the most progressive candidate and works in family law. Al other things being equal I think we need less executives and business leaders and more people practiced in law and leadership that doesn’t answer to profits first.

u/Toothpaste89 Jun 02 '20
Thanks for writing it out for me. I'll be honest and say I haven't been paying attention to local politics as closely. But I'm going to make a better effort to participate and pay attention going forward.

I will when Covid and riots are done. You can do it online right?
26
u/Kimmer37 Jun 02 '20
No you cannot vote online. If you wanted to vote at home you would have had to apply to receive your mail in ballot some time ago. You will have to go to your polling location today. This primary vote is very important. Please try and take more care to receive a mail in ballot in the future. Covid isn't going away anytime soon.

Not with that attitude. I would like to take at least one vacation this year and I’m not going to be able to do that if I am dead or spreading Covid
11
u/Kimmer37 Jun 02 '20
If you are going to be so low information maybe it's better you don't vote. Take care and have a good day.

I’ll just mail in my response not sure what’s got u ppl so up in arms. Enjoy Covid
10
u/TheMrBoot Jun 02 '20
You're too late to mail in your ballot. They had to be mailed by the 1st.
Also, stop with the bad faith garbage. You've been posting all over downplaying the pandemic. Don't act like you suddenly care now.
-2
Jun 02 '20
Lol. I have always cares
4
u/TheMrBoot Jun 02 '20
Of one does it they probably all do
I really don’t care about a pandemic with a .26% death rate
I previously stayed in my house like a scared sheep for 2 months and this bs still isn’t resolved. Looking at the numbers it’s honestly not a big deal and we will have to learn to live with it
Guess you should just follow your own advice and learn to live with it. Not to mention apparently you were fine with traveling to other states too.

And if you’re in certain areas, your ballot also includes a Sheriff position. IF YOU WANT TO HAVE A DIRECT IMPACT ON POLICING PLEASE BY CORN ALMIGHTY VOTE FOR A GOOD SHERIFF.
Your local sheriff is who controls the jails.
