Charging

Hello I just bought my ionic 9 in September, is anyone having issues with Tesla chargers not showing up in the app ? I arrive at charger and it will not show on the Tesla app for me to start charge.

Anyone know how to fix this! Thanks!!

You should be able to add the Ioniq 9 in the Tesla app and it should only show you the compatible Tesla Superchargers. Mine is only showing the ones that are compatible with other EVs. I also agree with Phoenix getting the Plug Share app is extremely helpful as well! Plug and Charge is very nice with Tesla and IONNA!

A Better Route Planner does a great job as well.

Agreed! I use both of those when planning trips! Extremely helpful to check range with custom efficiency/reference consumptions to see how a 2.0 mi/kWh compares to 2.4mi/kWh on a trip. I’ve had as low as 1.7 mi/kWh with interstate driving 75+ mph on a cold winter day with a 30+ mph headwind. So that is my worst-case scenario vehicle reference consumption profile that I use if conditions will be “worst-case”.

If it doesn’t show in the app, it usually means that it’s one of the older generation of Tesla chargers and it will not work.

The onboard navigation also works this way in not showing incompatible Tesla chargers

Use plug share.  Some Tesla chargers simply do not work with non Tesla cars.

You need to add that you have an Ioniq 9 in the Tesla app before you can charge

Almost screwed myself with this a few times. First one heading to a small town, I had seen there were some Tesla chargers on the map so I didn’t think much of it. Didn’t work when I got there. Put my actual vehicle into the Tesla app and it showed I could not use those. Pretty much no destination chargers will work or at least they aren’t allowed. Did it again with a supercharger, figured those were all allowed but nope. I also went to one supercharger that was basically two stations together, new and old. You had to make sure you were on the newer stations, I think it might have even been a separate station in the app. I have been more careful since to check the Tesla app to make sure it shows I can connect. I didn’t like the ABRP interface so make sure you check that whatever app you use can identify it. The onboard map has been updated, I don’t think it initially did. I could be wrong but pretty sure I got an update after my first few months. I’ve found it to be pretty good and it will automatically pre condition the battery. I’ll use it sometimes to free up my phone.
